WT234 The Good Life

Well, I thought I was going to have time to play the Ways to Use Challenge today. Instead, I worked at the school and got side tracked later on in the day. Anyhow, I've always wanted to make a shaker card and I thought it would be a great time to do it here. The Ways to Use it Challenge today, was we were to create a card using using any type of sand. Whether we used sand, sand paper, and etc. I chose to do both. I started out by making the shaker part first by following the wonderful instructions by Beate in the Resources. To make the frame, I used a square punch 4 times inside. Instead of the acetate paper, I used the package from the tacky strip. I stamped the snoopy image with black ink onto watercolor paper. I colored the image using prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. I added a little bit of sand that I took from my son's misc sand pile for sand art. Once I got everything mounted for the part of the shaker scene, I had realized that I forgot to color in the sky. Does it still look ok? Darn it! I also mounted the foam tape on the top part of the frame, which means when I took it off, the paper came off too leaving a thin layer of white showing. I measured kraft c/s, used the cb distress stripes folder, and metered the corners. I used the corduroy distress ink for the frame and also for the b/g of the card. Went over it using the sand paper. I didn't have any mesh for the bottom of the card where the sentiment is, so I used a piece of shelf liner. I stamped the sentiment and colored. I stamped the seashells using different distress inks, cut out, and mounted. I had a fun time making this card, but wished I would of gotten it done this morning. I really think this is where I am suppose to be.
