Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving? It was just our family this time. We sometimes see my twin sister on this holiday because we go shopping on the Black Friday mornings. No big shopping, just the craft stores. Unfortuately, we didn't get to do that this year. She had to work! She's in Colorado and I am here in Oklahoma. Our parents are still in California, oh how I wish we could go back home, someday. Anyways, this is for the Ways to Use It challenge on www.splitcoaststampers.com for Thursday. I was just too busy to make it on Thanksgiving, so I made it, afternoon. We make it a family outing to go see the fall colors at the lake. We have been doing it since we lived in Minnesota. It's just so pretty in the Fall season there. We get a little bit of color, but it's always fun just hanging out with my family. In this picture, we just got home church and changed over, except for me. I really didn't feel like changing, so that is why I'm dressed like this. I used modge podge with decorative dp to cover the wood frame. I found these at Michaels. I have quite a stash in my room that I am hoarding. Unreal. I bought this package of thin felt squares in the size of 8x11 at Hobby Lobby when they were having their 95% off sale last week. I got 10 sheets for .25 cents. Gotta love the clearance isles. I used my Sizzix leaf die cut and secured them using glue dots. The felt flowers came like that, also found on the clearance rack at HL for $1.25, whoo who! I added ribbon to the inside and outside edges to hide the raw edges of the wood. I tied 3 ribbons on the right side and added buttons to the bottom. I used stickers from the House Mouse collection, attached to vanilla c/s, and secured them using glue dots. This is what I am Thankful for. My healthy loving, supportive family. Have a wonderful and blessed day!

WT194 Thankful for Our Family
LSC196 Dan's Pig Farm
This was a tough challenge for me. We had to make a card from Limited Supplies Challenge on www.splitcoaststampers.com using pink, embellishments, and an animal. But after awhile and lots of planning, I decided to make a card for my friends pig farm in Minnesota. I had a really fun time making this for him. Ok, here is the story. This whole card except for the road is done with water color paper. I punched out a circle for the sun with the CM circle punch and used it as the template for the stencil. Sponged inside with yellow. Used the circle part as the sun, sponged with yellow, more mustard for the second sun. Set aside. I sponged lightly with blue ink all around the sky and added the sun using mini pop dots. I stamped the trees with green ink randomly using the stamp off stamp on method...meaning stamp your image onto your card, then stamp the image on another piece of paper, then back on your card. I stamped 3 more trees and cut out. I used clear emboss powder with the heat gun for all 3. I ripped a piece of black paper and added white lines using my white galaxy pen. I ripped the green grass, sponged it with old olive, stamped little flowers onto it with brown stazon. I used my Prismacolor pencils on all the flowers with OMS, and blending stumps. I stamped the truck twice with black ink, colored, and cut. The top truck is done using the watercolor pencils technique. I hand wrote "Dan's Pig Farm" with a black pen. I cut out the tires so the other truck wheels would show through the top. I added the back side of velcro fasteners as my wheels (already were round) and used a brad for the center hub cap. I stamped the pig twice using black ink, colored with pencils, and cut out. The truck and the pig have pop dots in between them. I added the trees using mini pop dots as well. I added snow flurries on the card with liquid applique. I stamped Happy Anniversary and wrote the number "10" on shrinky dinks, punched a hole, and baked for 3 minutes. I also added the ribbon and snowflake. This was a real challenge for me to use pink. So, hopefully he looks past the pink as the base of my card. I think I covered all the requirements for this challenge. Do you think so? I'm sorry that you had to read the same story as my gallery on SCS. But, that's ok for this one. Have a nice night!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving spending it with the people you love. I am thankful for my family, health, and friends. I hope to post a card in a day or too. Just been very busy/ I'm so tired! Here is a poem I that you might like.
Thanksgiving Friends
Thanksgiving is a time
For reviewing what we treasure,
The people we hold dear,
Who give us so much pleasure.
Without you as my friend,
Life would be a bore;
Having you in my life
Is what I’m thankful for.

SC204 HM Star Bright

You know it might help me better with my cards if I get some SLEEP! I have been working around the clock with card making, gifts, school projects, and so on. All of a sudden I have really been in the mood to just stamp and experience new techniques. These colors are really outside the box for me. I wanted to do the sketch challenge on SCS and incorporate the image for the www.housemousechallenge.com using the polka dots. I bought this MME glitter Christmas Stack up at Michaels not knowing what I was going to use it for. Like everyone else, I love paper. I need more though, not according to my husband. I stamped the mouse using brown stazon ink onto white c/s. I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. I used 2 different types of green pencils for the grass to give it a different look. I used clear the versamark pen, embossing powder, and used the heat gun to set it on the mouse and grass. I made a strip of pink c/s for the strip in the middle, but I had made 2 different ones. I had a tough time with the ribbon too. I accidently cut the ribbon shorter on one side but wasn't able to tie it just right. In other words, I had to make up something to cover my mistake. I just made the bow and added it separetly. One thing that really amazes me is that, you have to think outside the box sometimes to make your stuff work for you. I didn't have any gold pearls, so I decided to use the brads. Except that I didn't want the bumpy look from the brad to appear on the front. I took the scissors and cut them off. Now, no bumps and they fit perfectly on the card. I hope this fits the challenge for House Mouse. I was going through the gallery on SCS and noticed another person used somewhat the same type of glitter paper because I really didn't want to start all over. But I continued with it anyhow, but at least we used different images. The sentiment came from those new Walmart clear stamps. Well, I better get something done around this house, like make some pies. I love pumpkin pie, do you? Happy Thanksgiving!

Santa's Pearls

This was really a huge challenge for me to do today. I had a sick son home from school. In between incidents with him, I managed to get this card done. I combined 2 challenges for this card. The colors for this challenge CC194 was to use Really Rust, Gray, and Vanilla. The other challenge was WT193...meaning ways to use it. I used the pearls. Needless to say, I struggled with this challenge. I didn't have any gray as requested, but I thought the silver metallic would work as good. Believe me, I didn't start off with this image. I had about 3 going there for awhile. I couldn't get my other choices to work. I didn't really want to spend alot of time coloring on my card. I have been up night and day stamping trying to get these challenges done. Plus, all the other things I have going on throughout the day. So this worked out for me. I started out by using the CB Swirls folder on the vanilla c/s. I then colored the swirls using the silver metallic marker. I used versamark, clear embossing powder, and the heat gun twice. To get it the glossy look. I also stamped the Santa Claus with silver ink onto vanilla c/s. I trimmed off the excess from the c/s of the santa because I wanted the look to be close to the paper. I didn't want any gap from the sides of the stamp. The same technique with the embossing was done with the image and the sentiment as with the swirl folder. I added different size pearls to this mustache that had a snowflake. I used wired silver ribbon, tied it together with the sheer cream ribbon, added a snowflake brad (I cut off the backing), and attached a pearl to the center. It is held on with a glue dot. I really had fun making this card, but I wish it wouldn't of taken me most of the day. I hope you like what you see. Have a great night! TFL!

SC200, WT193 Rudolphs Wish

Good morning on this beautiful day. Although it is in deed cold outside. But it should warm up to at least 50 degrees today. My mom usually calls me everyday to see how the weather is. I let her know that it's cold right now, but will warm up to 50 degrees by noon. She always teases me and says, "50 degrees, you say its warm"? Well since moving out of California 12 years ago, and moving to 3 states (which are all in the midwest) since then (due to my husband who is a United States Marine), my blood and body temperature has adjusted. Someday, I would really like to go back to Minnesota. My kids miss the snow and I want to see my friends. Ok, I combined 2 challenges here on this card from SCS. The sketch challenge is SC200 and the Pearls for the Ways to Use it. Off of a sudden, I have been buying all sorts of DP and came across this from MME Glitter stack from Michaels. It already had the glitter on the paper, except for the sleigh. I added a little bit of emboss powder using the heat gun and also the versamark pen. I wish I would of thought of that pen before. I stamped the faces of the reindeers with brown stazon, cut out only the faces, added the MS branch punch for antlers, and added the rhinestones for their noses. I sponged around the vanilla c/s and used my CM corner rounder. I added pearls and colored the sentiment using a marker. The 3 squares on held on with pop dots. Have a wonderful day and thanks for dropping by.

A Gift for You!

Would you miss your daily walk for a challenge on SCS? Well, that's what I did this morning. I couldn't wait to play. The challenge was to make a Pop up gift card holder. I decided to add an ornament to the front, so the person receiving this can put it on their Christmas tree. As we went grocery shopping at Walmart yesterday, my husband went one way in the store, whereas, I went the other way and I went to see if my store had these clear stamps. I have most of them, but didn't have the alphabets. So I sneaked them into the cart. My husband wanted to know how they got in the cart and pass the register without him seeing them. If he only knew. You have to distract his attention and slip them into the bag. He really doesn't mind that I buy stamps or anything like that. Ok, onto my gift card. Inside: I stamped the sentiment using the stamps that I mentioned before from Walmart and mounted it to white c/s. Added a snowflake. I stamped snowflakes with burgundy and silver inks onto the blue c/s. I used the CM circle cutter, MS snowflake punch, and added a rhinestone for the flap of the gift card. Outside: I cut a piece of DP and used the CB snowflake folder and attached to the front of the card. I wanted to add a little character to my gift card, so I created a circle medallion using the decorative corner punch. I made 2 of these out of burgundy c/s. I used the CM circle cutter for the image on the snowman to fit inside. I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils, versamark pen, clear emboss powder, and heat gun. I added diamond dust to the ground and liquid applique for the outline of the snow. I then added mini pop dots to the front and back of the medallion sandwiched between the snowman to make it pop out. I punched 4 blue and 4 silver MS snowflakes, sprayed adhesive, and added diamond dust for the sparkle. Remember to wear gloves or something on your hands if you are going to work with spray adhesive, because afterwards, I was so STICKY.
I added an eyelet, silver cording, and metallic ribbon to complete. I wanted something to make the ornament come off the card, so I looked through my sewing stash and found some velcro. I had my thinking cap again! So I added a small piece to the top of the card and also to the back of the ornament. It really isn't all that noticeable once the ornament if off the card. I also added satin ribbon to tie it shut. I will be making more of these as gifts for teachers, friends, and the bus driver. Thanks for visiting!

TLC189 Santa's Cookies

I just love my Scor-Pal. I don't know why I waited so long to get it. It's so addicting. I've been wanting to make this mini pizza box challenge over at www.splitcoaststampers.com, but I didn't want to make it the hard way. I waited until I received my Scor-pal that I ordered from my penpal Laura. Check out Laura's stuff here.
Whirlpool of Imaginations. I wanted to do something with Santa Claus and cookies. This is what I came up with. It is time consuming but was fun to do. I hand drew my own templates for the cheeks and nose. I also used a little chalk on the cheeks. I used 2 lids to outline the half circles to make the mustache and ran it through the CB bubbles folder. I glued snow white felt along the edges on the lid to the box. I happened to be at Walmart today, glanced over, and saw these white feathers. I thought it would look good for my santa box for the hat and beards. Well, I trimmed the fuzzy parts off the feathers and used spray adhesive to make them stay on. Needless to say I was covered in feathers tonight. My kids told me I looked like a bird. I have a ton of ideas for Christmas but so little time, so it seems. I don't seem to want to go to bed because I want to play with my ideas. My husband thinks I am silly. I made the cookies by using my CM circle, CB bubbles folder, and hole punch. I also made another circle for the back to make it more sturdy. To make it look like santa took a bite out of the cookie, I used the scallop circle punch. I really enjoyed making this, and I'm sure Santa Claus will like it too. Have a wonderful night!

Darnest Things!
Good morning! It looks like its going to be a beautiful day here. But that is only the view I have from the window. But, I know the temperatures are about 40 degrees right now. Brrrr! It's cold. But not like Minnesota where we used to live. You know kids just do and say the darnest things, at least mine do. Here's one for you! Enjoy! I have been very busy here lately working on my Christmas projects for teachers, classmates, family, and things like that. I've been staying up late just about every night until my husband would leave for work in the mornings. (which usually is 3:30am) I know, that's pretty bad isn't it? I'm so tired. You'd think I do all I needed to do during the day since I'm a SAHM. Trust me, I just don't stamp would have all day with my time. I grocery shop, clean, laundry, errands, and volunteer at the schools when they need me. Anyways, getting to my story. My son Cody was having a sleepover at his friends house. This morning the phone rings, and I threw the blankets off and I really can't see the time that early or when I first wake up, old age or something. Here I was thinking it was Friday (dead asleep) and look at the clock. Cody says to me and says "mom, do you still have my pizza coupon?"...ahhh, Cody "do you realize what time it is? It's 8:00am. He laughs. **sigh**. Yes, I still have the coupon silly. Go back to bed, because I'm going to. OMG! Why would Cody think I wouldn't have his pizza coupon? The kids get a free coupon for their reading logs at school once they are completed for the month. Kids do the darnest thing at anytime. We laughed and I went back to bed. It was just weird because I just had mentioned to my sister Connie about the pizza box last night through the email. I opened my email this morning and I she had mentioned to me that I wrote pizza butt in the subject line. I must of been tired! Have a wonderful day!

Christmas Penguin Snow Globe Card

You know as I was out doing my errands this afteroon, an idea came to my mind. I couldn't wait to get home and start on it. My penpals have been wondering also. I have seen snow globes in stores, magazines, things out of recycled items, but none as a card. I've always wanted to get my kids a snow globe but never found the right one. I just don't want to buy one just to buy it. I want it to be special and that my kids can look at it and Believe! I decided to make a card instead. I don't remember where the original idea came from but I drew the template to the best of my knowledge. I started out by tracing the template onto white c/s. There's 2 dotted line areas for the fold of the card (1 inch on the ball and 1 inch on the base).
1st Step: From the template, I traced another circle onto white c/s and cut out. This will be your globe. 2nd Step: From the template, I traced the base onto gold c/s and cut out. Set aside. 3rd Step: I took the circle and stamped the image with black ink. I colored the penguin using Prismacolor Pencils. This part can get very sticky and get on your hands if you are not careful. I've done that several times. I used spray adhesive on the whole circle and sprinkled glitter on the globe. OMG! You should see me now. I just sparkle. Set aside. 4th Step: This is where you add the ribbon or however you want to decorate it, before you glue the base on the card. I added ribbon which gave me a little trouble, but I think it looks ok. I stamped the sentiment from Studio G, sponged the edges with gold, and attached. 5th Step: This part is tricky also. I like to use tacky tape on cards like these, because it holds alot stronger. I carefully laid the globe down 1st making sure it covers the base of the card (the whole card). It leaves 1/4 inch part of the globe on the bottom but it will cover up once you attach the base. Add the base to the card. Oops! I wrote my story almost for the directions, sorry. This was fun to make. I hope you like it. ! Have a great night!

My Silly Kids Joke!
I have to tell you something that got me and my husband David on our toes tonight. OMG! It was hilarious. My husband was outside with the kids working on building a cat bed out of wood. I was in the house collecting all the trash because I thought today was Thursday. Wrong. Anyways, I came across this red orange looking lizard on the floor just glaring at me. It was about 4 inches long. I quickly opened the front door and yelled..."David, get the lizard...its by the door". He comes running and says, we have to get that lizard quick! I said, let me run up the stairs to get my camera and I'll take a picture of it, for proof. I tried to get the lighting on the camera, but I was in a hurry so it's a little blurry. Sorry! I even tried to put the cat near it to see what she'd do. Nothing. Well, My husband decides to see if he can grab it with his hands. He looks at it with a strange look. He turns around really fast and says, OMG! And tosses it at me, I SCREAMED bloody murder and ran. He laughs. It's a RUBBER LIZARD...I was so embarrassed as he was too, because he fell for the joke that my kids put on us. We both kept laughing and the kids were too. Then later on after dinner, my son comes up behind me and lays that lizard on my shoulder and I PANIC. I don't do critters of any kind, let alone dealing with mice all summer. I thought you could use a laugh. Enjoy the rest of the night!
LSC195, SC203 Chocolate Square Punch Medallion

I started this sketch late last night, actually as soon as it hit the computer around midnight. I ended up going to bed around 3am. My husband looked at me kinda funny and says "Don't you ever get any sleep?" I have been learning from others on SCS, that you can go outside the box when producing a card sketch. I started with Chocolate Chip c/s as the base of the card. I used my square punch placing it over the flower on the dp. I then used the CB Textile folder on all 4 of them. I used the CB Flower borders for the vanilla pieces, spacing with the same panel on each. I thought about it several times for the look I wanted to achieve and came up with this idea using the square medallion with my decorative corner punch. I saw the new tutorial on Becca Feekers blog here www.amazingpapergrace.com. I punched between the lines instead of on the lines. I stamped the sentiment from Stampabilities called True Friends with black ink onto MME dp. I also made an extra backing piece to make it more steady. It's like a sandwich. There are mini glue dots in between the CC and the DP to make it stand out a little. I added a piece of satin ribbon and tied with a bow. I'm still learning the ribbon tying too. The medallion is placed on with pop dots. I added a silk flower with a fabric brad (which I clipped the brad prongs off to look like a button). I also used my corner punches. I added mini rhinestones to complete the look. I liked how this all came together and hope you do to. I had a really fun time doing this challenge. Have a great day!
I happened to check out today's Limit Supplies Challenge on SCS and it said to use anything that involves Chocolate. So, I decided to change the name and use it for the challenge.

CC193 I Love Gingerbread Men

What a great day to stay indoors and stamp. It is a bit on the chilly side, oh about 39 degrees here. I still walked around the lake too. It actually felt good. When I saw the color challenge last night on SCS, I knew what I wanted to create something with gingerbread men. These are their colors. This card was fun to make, but I could make gingerbread men and houses all day long. I actually collect anything to do with this cute little men. I started out by using the CB Houndstooth on the kraft and red c/s. I had these scrapbook wavy borders from way back when I was first introduced to scrapbooking. Now they are usually in a place in my misc stash of things. I decided to use them here. I stamped the gingerbread men and candy onto kraft paper. I colored them using Prismacolor pencils, used clear embossing powder, and heat gun. Cut out with scissors. I stamped the sentiment from the Sweet Holidays and used the heritage corner punch on 2 sides on the layers. The gingerbread men and candy are on the jute with a small piece of tacky tape and pop dots. I also used the white gel pen for the gingerbread men. I added button hearts to finish. I had bought the MS gingerbread men border punch too but I couldn't make it work in this card. Darn! This was really a fun challenge and great colors too. Stay warm!

You are not going to believe this, but I actually completed this challenge on SCS. I had to put it down a few times before I got it right. I even asked my husband to help me out. Clueless! All I can say is, he tried so that's what counts, right? It really started to come together once I had all the diamonds in my hand. It felt like I was dealing a hand of cards. TLC193 Peace

Whew! I made it through another challenge! This one was really fun to create. I mean, who would of ever thought of using a corner punch to create such beauty with a card. I
followed the wonderful tutorial from Becca Feekers here www.amazingpapergrace.com I went and bought me a corner punch just so I can make this card. I must of went through a few white circles with the dove on it just to get it right, but managed to get it done after the 5th one. I made the white circle a little bit bigger so I could use the decorative scallop scissors. I'm not very good at using these type of scissors and I prayed the whole time I had them in my hand that it would come out right. I was kinda nervous about using this punch but the tutorial made me so comfortable. Amazing! I added dew drops pearls, scallop circle punches, and stamped the sentiment to complete this card. I also added stickles to the sentiment punch. Have a wonderful night!

Wrapped Gift

Oh yes! It's a double challenge! I'm slowing trying all these new techniques and ways to use it challenges on SCS. Amazing how everything comes together in card making. Since I picked the plaid dp as part of one challenge, I decided the card I wanted to create was to look like a wrapped gift. It may look like a lot of work, but really it wasn't. Just stamp, color, emboss, and cut. I will not bore you with the story but you view it in my gallery here www.splitcoaststampers.com Does it look like a gift to you? Have a great day!

Stained Glass Angel
I want to first say that I am really sorry for the bad picture. My camera has been acting up with the flash, so I try to get the best light I could. Also, tried to scan the photo but I'm learning that part too. Here's my story. This card took a bit longer than I anticipated but that's ok. It was a perfect day for stamping with it being so cold outside. When I saw this stamp at HL, I knew I wanted to make it into a stained glass card. I followed Beate's instructions in the Resources at SCS. I also incorporated 3 challenges in this card. The only thing I didn't have was the embossing buddy in the tutorial. So, I looked online to see what I can substitute it. It said to use Corn Starch with a sock. You got to have things tucked away in your pantry, because you just never know when you'll use them. I told my husband about it, he's like "WHAT!" Then I patted the vellum with it to make the ink hold. I stamped this image with Versafine onyx black ink. Let dry. Then I used the clear emboss powder, heat set. I loved doing the next part. I flipped the image over and colored the image using the Bic Mark It markers and a white gel pen. Let dry. I wanted to stay with the colors for the challenge of CC192 using Not Quite Navy, Celery, and gray. I attached the completed image onto vanilla c/s the same piece of vellum with a tiny strip of tacky tape. I added gold foil paper to the back and left 1/8 of an inch to fold back over the front (this hides the tacky tape inside the vellum). The corners were used as part of the WT191 challenge for using my corner rounder. I added a piece of sheer ribbon and gold cording from CTMH and tied. The layout challenge is SC199. I hope it works for this. The image is just a bit bigger. I used gray and celery c/s as the layout. I used the CB Swirl folder then colored the swirls using the gold metallic pen. Then used clear embossing on all 3 pieces of the c/s. I used 2 star punches and hand written the sentiment with a Unibal Black pen. The image and the star is held on with pop dots. I really enjoyed making this card.
Have a great night!

TLC194 Country Christmas Ornament
Whew! I am ready to get these challenges done that tend to creep up on me. One day maybe I'll be able to catch up. This is a great challenge and fun to do. You can find Qbee's tutorial under Try A New Technique on www.splitcoaststampers.com. I wanted to make this into a tree ornament instead of a candy treat. So, I decided to make it look like the real tree we have in our family room. I decorate it as if it were outside. It's our Country Christmas tree. The real one has red berries as the garland, ribbon bows, cardinals, nests, red apples, and a star out of twigs with clear lights. I think this turned out cute, don't you? The accessories are held on with glue dots and the bird is on there with a pop dot. Have a wonderful day! Off to do more challenges.

SC201 Joy to the World
Oh my goodness! Has it been that long since I last posted? WOW! I'm so sorry. My kids and I have been sick with the flu. I was really busy around Halloween, last minute costume ideas and treats for school. My husbands mom is really sick down in Texas too. Just been busy. I will do my best to keep it updated for you. It has been cold here too. Great nights for stamping! Ok, on to my story about this card. This actually goes along with the House Mouse Challenges for Christmas. You can see all of them here. www.housemouse-challenge.com I have finally completed this sketch at SCS. I've been wanting to use this HM stamp since I got it from HL and I thought it work great for this sketch. I started out by stamping the image with black ink onto white cardstock. I colored it using Prismacolor pencils, Goo Gone, and blending stumps. I used the gold metallic pen for the trumpet and the halos. I added Diamond Dust to their wings and the ground. I also used a small amount of liquid applique for the outlines of the ground. I used clear embossing powder on the candycane. I used bliss blue and white c/s and ran it through the CB snowflake folder for the layout. The image is held on using dimensions. I punched out 2 snowflakes, glitter, and glue dots. I wanted the sentiment to have a musical note saying and let me tell you, I looked and looked all over the place and finally found these cute clear stamps at Walmart. I really enjoyed making this card, as that it will be for one of my pen pals. Thanks for dropping by.
