I love making these rag purses. So fun and so fast! As I mentioned before, I have had been doing zumbathons around our area to help raise money for great causes. This one was for Adoption. My zumba buddy and I had shirts made that said Adopt on them. I was asked to see if I can make something for the auction beforehand. I said, yes. I love helping in any way I can. I decided on the rag purse. The person who won it, loves it. This was easier to work with than the Bronco bag that I made for my sister. I think its because the wording on it is smaller. Anyhow, after this was completed, I sprayed it a little bit with stiffner to make it form a shape. Worked out great and it sold for $45. Looking forward to making more of these bags. Have a wonderful day.

OU Rag Quilt Purse
Matthews T-Shirt Quilt

Whew! This quilt took a bit of time...but I was glad that I was able to do something for a friend of mine. A friend had gotten these tshirts from her friend back in April and asked me if I would make something out of them. Her friend son is pictured on the 2nd block that says Angels. He passed away from cancer at the age of 5 years, sad...I said sure. It took me awhile to get it going with all other things that was happening in my life, but I got it done the week on his birthday. I used flannel material that has the spaceships on it and cottons for the rest. I appliqued a moon that I found off a space shirt at the thrift store and thought it would look good on this quilt. I also appliqued several stars on the quilt too. My husband had purchased the fabric paper in the wrong style but this worked out just as well. Next time, I will have to buy and go get what I need at the fabric store. Silly men. This was time consuming, but worth it. I quilted around some of the images on the shirts to where they stood out. I also made a tote bag using a photo of his, and also a small wall hanging with the 4 other t-shirts that were left over. She loved everything about what I did with her son's tshirts and to this day, she keeps saying thank you!
Nap Quilt with Pillow
I love making kids quilts, they go really fast. A friend of mine from church had asked me if I could make a nap size quilt for her son. I told her yes, of course. I made it with a matching pillow too. I also made the pillowcase. I used some baseball material which I had bought from a garage sale a while ago and got plenty of it. I chose the pattern because it was the easiest and fastest for me. I embroidered his name on the center black with red. I also made this quilt to where it was puffy than my usual ones that I do make. This way he can lay on it without having to feel like he's laying on the floor. I think this came out great and I believe he's liking his blanket too. All materials are 100% cotton.
Mickey Mouse T-shirt purse

I have a friend who adores Disney. Especially Mickey Mouse. As I was browsing through Goodwill one day, I came across this cute tshirt with the perfect design on it for $1.99. I have to buy it I said to myself. I will make something out of it for my friend. I cut the shirt into a perfect square not to close to the top of the neck but making another same piece from the back of the shirt. I did this to the lining as well. I had the red with white dots in my stash so this worked perfectly for this project. (I should of took a picture of the before look, but forgot). I made the handles out of the scraps from the shirt. This makes a great shoulder bag that she can carry light things in. She loved it!
Breast Cancer Purse
I have been busy doing Zumbathons for great causes around our town and trying to raise money for people who need the help. The secretary who was at my son's middle school had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and isn't able to work any more. The people of the school decided to have a zumbathon with a silent auction and raffle tickets. I decided to make a purse using the fabric that my friend back in San Diego sent to me. I created this cute little purse taking and using ideas from 3 different patterns. I machined quilted the whole purse inside and out with just the stippling stitch. I added a pocket and a snap closure. I found the handles at Goodwill for $1.00 off another purse which I thought was ugly and tried it on this one. Also took the bottoms of the prongs that were on that ugly purse and used it on my purse to make the purse stand on its own. I added a pocket to the outside and the person who won my purse was so excited. It made me feel good to see someone win my item and that we made the effort to help our friend who's fighting this terrible disease. Thanks for dropping by.
Bronco Rag Purse
You know how hard it was to make a Bronco bag when I am a Charger Fan...yep, being from San Diego, gotta love my Chargers. Anyhow, my twin sister Connie had sent me this fabric to see if I could create a rag quilt tote bag for an auction that she was having at her work. When I saw the fabric, I thought to myself...this is a big print, don't know about it. But, I made it work anyways. I seem to have trouble estimating the squares by the inches to make bags come out to be tote bags, so we settled on a purse style...gotta read on the instructions more clearly. But I think it came out cute...then I shipped it back to Colorado where my sister lives by Priority Mail...wrong way to send packages, its not a guarantee that it will get there in the 3 days. It took 2 wks...I was upset. My sister had to use something else for the auction and ended up selling this one for $30. What do you think?
Zumba Tote Bag
I made this for a friend of mine's birthday not to long ago. I wanted something that she can carry all of her Zumba hip scarves in when she goes to Zumba. She picked out the print and I created the bag. I did this a little bit different and thought this bag came out being one of my best bags that I have made. I quilted the outside with the zebra print all around. The pocket on the outside was switched out for a bigger 2 pocket later. I used my Cricuit with Steam a Seam for the letters and appliqued them onto the printed fabric. EASY PEASY! But wished I had an embroidery machine instead, but it worked. The inside of the bag has a canvas type of feel to it which I made out of a thick Heat a Bond. I added 2 pockets on each side of the inside, one being one long pocket and the other 3 pockets. Lots of room in this tote bag, enclosed with a snap closure. The band for the handle was picked out by my son who thought it looked better and plus he said it was heavy duty. Works great!

Happy Halloween from the Hackneys
It's Halloween time! It's been some time since I have last posted...my life has gotten very busy. Anyhow, I wanted to share with you the costumes that I created this year for my family for Halloween. I have always wanted to be Olive Oyl (I am tall) and have my husband be Popeye (he's shorter than me, plus he's bald)...what a perfect couple. My kids wanted to be Bluto and Mr. Wimpy, so I went with it. I created Mr. Wimpy with old work clothes I had and altered them in about 10 inches on the sides of the suit jacket, shirt, and pants. I made the tie out of felt and used an elastic for the neck. I got created and made a walking billboard inside out of a t-shirt and attached another part of a t-shirt and stitched the bottom of it so I can stuff it for his belly. I put a piece of elastic around the edging so my son was able to walk better without having to hold down his shirt. I got the gold pants and shirt at Goodwill for Bluto as well as the white scrub shirt for Popeye. I made a white flap and I had sewn on black ribbon around the edge too. The arms were tricky but I got it down. My clothes I had were too big, so I used fused tape with ribbon for my sleeves and the ribbon on the dress. I drew the scallops to onto white fabric and cut out and attached to the neck of my sweater. Oh, the shoes I am wearing are my husbands's. The only part I didnt care was I used gel to grease my hair back into a ponytail tightly. Added 6 more pony tails to make my hair stick out. I then covered my hair with a hair net and used black spray paint all over. YUCK! It worked! But it took forever to wash out. Our family loves to dress up for Halloween. What do you think?

A Path of Nature's Baby Quilt

Ohh, when I saw my Zumba instructor's pictures of her SIL baby shower, I knew I wanted to create a baby quilt for her. I asked her what colors she would like and she told me...brown and mint green. This is what I came up with. It really didn't take me that long to do, but the quilting did. When I took it to my zumba class one night, my instructor was amazed how beautiful it was. She was even impressed with the label I had made for the back of the quilt too. I love making things for my friends who appreciate them. I used 100% high quality cotton from Hancock Fabrics.
The Horrible Tornado
WOW! It's been quite some time again, so sorry if you are following me. It has been a bit hectic around my neck of the woods. We've had tornados, high winds, and just HOT! The lake down the road from us really got hit hard, and the peoples boats that were out there...just devasting! It's amazing that mother nature could wipe out a whole town in less than 5 minutes. It's horrible! Lots of damages, a few deaths, and people starting over. Here are a few pictures of what the marina looked like before and after the tornado. Pretty awful!

ZUMBA!!!
WOW! I am so addicted to this Latin Dance exercise. My friend invited me with her to her class one day at our local YMCA. I was shy at first because I really didnt know what it was and thought people would look at me. I had a BLAST! The people in the class really dont have time to look to see if you are doing it right or wrong because they are busy concentrating on themselves watching the instructor. Anyhow, I have been doing it everyday of the week for one solid hour. Look here for an example from youtube you can get an idea of what the dance, exercise looks like. Or you can practice some basic steps before you head out to your first class. That's what I did. You can also find some locations in your area...some cost, some are free. Just go to the Zumba site here. The ones I found which I truely love are FREE. There's alot of variations in styles that each instructor has, just follow their steps. I love the instructors too. WOW! It's a great exercise, meet new friends, and burning calories is a good thing right. Lots of sweating. I have done one Zumbathon too. Really, really fun...you ought to try it!
A Little about Life
Well, its been very busy with me lately...I know, excuses...excuses, right? No really, it has. Our quilts for our church auction went really well and we are happy with the results of the money we got for them. The quilt I made with the OU SOONERS here went for $110 here and the Homespun Country Plaid here went for $75. Our Childrens Auction raised about $14,500. This is to help kids get go to summer camps and upgrading. We just love our church.
I have been having these lower back pains and discomfort for 3 years now due to a fall that happened. Well, I was actually lifting heavy things into the attic and lost my balance, but I didnt fall that day. A week later is when I collasped. Long story, so I will keep this short. Been on meds for pain, therapy, and had a couple of MRI's done until 2 weeks ago. I have the L3 and L4 discs that are herinated. The
L5 disc is bulging. My Sectrom in the tailbone called the S1 is torn. They are going to give me some injections to see if this will take of the problem. If it doesn't work, they'll go to the next level. I still have pain when I sit or stand too long, but I can tolerate it. My appointment to get this done is next week. Prayers welcome!
Just wanted to let you know that I am doing ok and hoping to get back into my studio to create more things.
Have a great day!

Boomer Sooner Tote Bag

When we moved here to Norman Oklahoma, we kept seeing things with OU on them...I mean it was from bumper stickers, license plates, t-shirts, and etc. We realized later that we lived just by the university. So the Sooners kinda grew on us. Anyways, it seems that my sister Connie has been going crazy on making tote bags for people. You can see her blog here She can barely keep up with her orders. So I decided to give it a try. I just finished making an OU Boomer Sooner queen size quilt for our childrens Ministry auction at church, so I thought of using the leftover materials from that. I followed the tutorial from Moda Bake Shop found here. Please see locate the tutorial under "Recipes" and click Bags and Totes. My tote bag came out a little smaller than theres, because I used the squares from the left over materials from the quilt I just made. Still worked out the same! I added my own style pocket to the inside by using interfacing on a piece of scrap material. I used a zig zag stitch for 2 columns, and my pockets have 3 sections. I used the simple machine stitch to make the "x's" on the bag. I really had a fun making this tote bag.
Have a wonderful day and thanks for dropping by.

YAY! My OU Quilt is Finished!
Whew! It's been awhile I know, same ole story, right? Well, I have been trying to get this quilt done for our Childrens Ministry Auction. My kids made a quilt also (see the post below mine). Anyhow, it did take me awhile to decide on a pattern so I went with an OU Sooners quilt. We live in the city of the BOOMER SOONERS and I said, Why not? So, I went with it. I hope our quilts bring in the money that will provide kids to go to summer camps. I made this quilt by doing the 9 patch blocks. It is a queen size. You should of seen what I had to go through to layout the pieces in my studio, my goodness. Yes, I prewashed all fabrics first (just in case the red would bleed)...worked out great I think. I did the machine quilting for the "x's" to make it easier on me and washed the quilt when it was finished. I added a label to the back also. Hope you like it! Thanks for dropping by!

Kids Auction Quilt

.jpg)

I'm sorry that I haven't been keeping a good update on my blog. Things will start to settle down and I will be able to manage it better. Over Spring Break last year, I taught my boys how to sew. They have been making pillows, mini quilts, and etc since then. My boys wanted to make a quilt for our Children's Ministry Auction at our church. I was making one but they wanted to make one of their own. This is how they planned their quilt. I bought 2 sewing machines for each of my boys to sew use (good idea, no arguments), anyhow, they grabbed a bunch of my 6 inch homespun blocks (I already had cut them to size prior to another quilt I made) worked perfectly. They each grabbed blocks and rearranged them on the floor and then picked up a row of blocks that equal 10. They each had sewn a row of blocks each...worked faster because it was TEAM WORK going for a great cause. As the quilt got bigger with adding borders, that's where mom came in. I helped them stitch the sandwich part of the quilt together, and did a little bit of the stitching on the top. I think the quilt and the blocks came together well. The Pastors at our church love what they did and thought they were very nice to contribute their time with such amazing talent. I made a label for the back of the quilt and they signed it with their names and ages. We also put additional information on the label for which the quilt was made for and etc. Have a wonderful day and thanks for dropping by!

A Mini Quilted Tote Bag

It's me again, just doing a little updating on my blog. I have been so busy during the week with my back therapy, exercising, and quilting. Do you ever feel like there is so much to do and so little time, well that's me! My twin sister has been making these quilted tote bags here for all our Pen Pals on Kota's on SCS and I wanted to do something like that, but decided to do a mini tote bag. Here are the instructions for the tote bag from Moda Bake Shop here. I am in the process of making one too. We have a Secret Sister in our Pen Pal group where we pick names and shop for that particular person. I picked someone who loves Cats and thought she would get a kick out of this mini tote bag in cat prints. I followed the tutorial for the Friendship Tote Bag from P.S. I Quilt here I thought, I did honestly! But somehow I ended up having to add 2 more strips to each side because I used 1/4 inch seams, instead of 1/8 seams. Still worked out ok, didn't it. I used the stipple quilting on the bottom and machine quilted in the ditch for strips. I really enjoyed making this one and I hope my SS likes this. Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful Easter weekend!
Supplies: 100% Cotton Moda Fabrics and 100% warm and natural batting
My 1st Fabric Basket

I'm BACK!!! I was browsing the internet one day looking for a homemade fabric basket that I can make for Secret Sister for our swap at Kota's Kids on SCS. Anyhow, I found this great tutorial from Pink Penguin here. I wanted my basket to be a little bigger, so I used 2 1/2 inches blocks. The lining is where it got tricky because remember I made my blocks bigger than what the instructions said. I am still practicing the adjustments for the lining. Next time, I will try to follow the EXACT instructions. I also wanted the quilted look, so I decided to just make "X's" on each block after the basket was done. I didn't have my thinking cap on, because I should of quilted it before the basket was put together. It still worked. I just sent it off to my SS yesterday and I hope she likes it. Of course, and I filled the basket up with stamping stuff and she could use it for misc things. I really liked how this came out, do you? Have a wonderful day!

Time Off!
Hello everyone!
I have been taking a few days to spend with my husband. He took some time off to work around the house. He has yet to do any of that...LOL! I have been taking him around town and enjoying the time together. I will be back in a few days. Have a great week!

Gorgeous day!
It was such a gorgeous afternoon, so I decided to take my boys to the lake and ride. It's been awhile since riding my bike, I was a little nervous. I didn't want to fall. Then how would I explain that to my back therapist. Anyhow, we did do a 3 mile bike ride with a 1 mile hike on our feet. We skipped rocks and enjoyed watching the family of 6 deer in the pasture as we sat to view the lake. It was so peaceful too!

Log Cabin Memory Quilt for Mom
I've always wanted to make a memory quilt but I always thought they were alot of work. I made this for my mom for Mother's Day a few years ago, but I wanted to share with you today. My mom loves the color brown, so I decided to make her a quilt with her old pictures of all her kids with my dad. This quilt took about 3 months to complete because at the time I was making it, I was working in Minnesota. Plus, the pictures were all different sizes. The only time I was able to work on it was after my kids were in bed and on the weekend. It was time consuming but well worth the effort. My mom loves it. What a great way to display your memories. I have made a couple more since making this for wedding gifts. Thanks for peeking at my creations at Bonnie's Corner.
Trip Around the World Baby Quilt
Again, I was helping my sister make some baby quilts from the requests she gets from her vendors at her work. I was always a little bit scared to try this pattern of Eleanor Burns called Trip Around the World. It always looked complicated to me. But, I finally decided to try it here...OMG! It was so easy...now I want to make more patterns like this but in different colors. I used old fashioned baby prints from Rosie's Calico Cupboard in San Diego. I used to live there and used to visit her store all the time. Did you know that she started her business from her garage? Now, its a whole strip mall in La Mesa. I really miss home, maybe some day when my husband retires from the military, we'll move back home. Have a wonderful night and thanks for stopping by Bonnie's Corner.
A Quilted Rag Tote Bag

A friend of mine asked me if I would make one of my quilted tote bags for her Secret Santa at Christmas time. She told me that she would pay me to do it. I really liked working with these colors. I had some Moda fabrics in my stash that I bought awhile back during one of our travels here to Oklahoma. I always ask my husband to stop at quilt stores along the roads if I see the signs. But, I always carry my quilt travel book too, so we wouldn't miss any either...LOL! That's my secret! Anyhow, on this tote bag, I added a button latch. After making a quilt with this technique, I realized you NEED the rag quilt scissors because regular scissors aren't going to work correctly and also you will not get score hands. My friend really liked the way this came out too. Thanks for visiting Bonnie's Corner!
Pat's Tote Bag
I have a wonderful and dear friend whom I met through Splitcoaststampers and her name is Pat. She is such a loving, caring, and a very thoughtful person who is trully dedicated to God. She is such a talented artist too. Her SCS gallery is here. I wanted to surprise her with a special gift that she could use to carry her stamping stuff. I made this tote bag from 100% Homespun country fabrics with the inside blocks matching. I also made an inside pocket too. She loved it and was very SURPRISED! Didn't I say, I like making these tote bags? Thanks for stopping by Bonnie's Corner.
My First Rag Quilt Lap throw
I have been busy with everyday life, isn't everybody though. Even though I am a Stay at home mom...I rarely stay home! Always doing something, whether its spending time looking for fabrics for my next project, volunteering at school, and right now spending my time with my kids on Spring Break. Here lately, I have been addicted to making Rag Quilts, Rag Tote bags, and things like that. You know I've had this quilt book sitting on my bookshelf forever and one day while looking through, I told myself...you ought to try it! Well, I tried it...and I love doing them, especially the tote bags. Anyhow, this particular lap throw was my 1st attempt...didnt work out too well, but its mine and that's all that matters. The next time I make one of these the front flannels will match the back side. I really like the looks of it and will make more of these, maybe bigger! I hope you like it too. Stay warm!

IC223 Happy Birthday Dallas

I can't believe my son turned 13 on Sat. WOW! Happy Birthday Dallas. I remember the day 13 years ago trying to drive with my husband to the hospital because we were in the middle of a SNOW BLIZZARD in Minnesota. I closed my eyes all the way to the hospital of 15 miles. It was pretty wicked! Like I mentioned in the post earlier for my mom's card that I made yesterday here. I was thrilled to have been asked by Stef on SCS to use the Warm Biscuit kids bedding store here as the Inspiration Challenge. I was browsing fabrics one day and thought it was a great idea to use. I decided to make a card into a gift card holder to hold his Itunes gift card for his Itouch. The inspiration bank is shown here. One thing I like to do to do when I create a card, is try to make it exactly like the object. In this case, to get the realistic look to the football. I made it out of Kraft c/s, Cuttlebug Mesh emboss folder, and used the orange colored marker. Afterwards, I used the versamark ink, clear emboss powder, and heat tool. The doctors used to tease me when my kids were born and people still do. You already have your own football team started. Dallas weighed in at 10lbs and Cody at 11 1/2 pounds when they were born, they both love football. You know that my son is now 5'8 and has a size 11 shoe. I bet this summer he passes me up in height. I am 6ft tall too. Amazing! I really enjoyed making this card for my son. Have a wonderful night!
Stamps: su button bear
Paper: kraft, white
Ink: black, versamark
Accessories: football template pattern from quilt book, sizzix die cuts (#'s), cb mesh emboss folder, clear emboss powder, heat tool, pop dots, kraft knife, scor pal, scissors, jewerly cording, tacky tape, Bic Mark It colored markers, tombo glue
IC223 Happy Birthday Mom

Happy Birthday Mom, This past weekend, my mother turned 85 years old. My twin sister and I had an idea that we mentioned on SCS, is to try to surprise our mom with 85 birhtday cards. I'm not sure how many she has received, but the ones she did receive she loved. The notes, the talent, and the friendships she made really made her birthday a wonderful surprise. Our mom was so touched by all of you who took the time to send her a birthday card, thank you! You are the greatest!
Ohhh, I am so thrilled my suggestion site was nominated for the Inspiration Challenge for this week. I came across this wonderful site called Warm Biscuit found here when I was browsing for fabrics to make my next quilt with. It has some wonderful ideas for kids stuff and mom's too. I chose this inspiration wall art here.
I received this image from a great friend Nancyruth and thought it would work perfect for this. I also used my Cricut for the 1st time ever without help from my son. Have a wonderful night and I can't wait to see what everyone creates.
The back of the card reads "If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I would walk in my garden forever."
Stamps: morning glory from Nancyruth, studio g, CTMH for message
Paper: real red, whisper white
Ink: black stazon, versamark
Accessories: Cricuit, prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, blending stumps, ms fine glitter, ribbon, scor pal, ruler, kraft knife, tweezers, tacky tape, scotch tape, pop dot dimensionals
Techniques: recessed window, coloring with pencils, cricuit
IC196 My Clutch Purse
You know, I look forward to the Inspiration Challenges that come out on Friday nights on SCS. They are my favorite. This is the clutch purse from the Moyna handbags store here. I started out by making the hand made purse by drawing a template. I made 2 extra pieces of the template so I can have a front and a back also. I take one of the extra pieces and used the cb textile emboss folder sideways. I used the saddle brown stazon ink with a sponge, a white colored pencil, and sand paper to distress the look of the folder. I used 3 different scallop circles for the flowers. I was looking through all my ink pads and couldn't find any color that I wanted. So I made some scribbles on watercolor paper with a pumpkin yellow prismacolor pencil. I rolled the tip of the flowers just a little bit and secured all 3 sizes with glue dots. I stitched the centers of the flowers with embroidery floss. I drew the lines for the vine with a pencil. The next part took about 10 minutes to do. I hand stitched the vine with embroidery floss with a needle. There is enough room for an opening that a gift card can fit into. I made an accordian style backing so the card can stand up. Once everything was done. This took a bit of time to make but I had fun doing it. Have a great night!
Paper: sandy cream, watercolor
Ink: saddle brown stazon
Accessories: cb textile emboss folder, prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, blending stumps, 3 sizes of scallop circle punches, office max brads, ms glitter, ms leaf punch, embroidery floss, needle, scissors, pierce tool, gray marker, tacky strip, sand paper
FS135 Family Memories
Our family is patriot and we really get into July 4th every year to celebrate the birthday. We either all wear Old Navy shirts representing the year or the kids and I will make our shirts. But we always wear our Americana hats. We go all out with the foods and American soda cans too. The Featured Stamper is Lori known as "LmcAree" and she has a wonderful gallery. I chose this card here. I decided to use a Family Photo from July 4th. I used white c/s through the printer/computer, sized to a wallet, and trimmed. I added star brads to the corners with my pierce tool. The photo image is mounted onto white/navy blue c/s and with foam tape for added dimension and same goes for the sentiment. The words are from my stash of stickers that are foil and mounted using foam dots. I really enjoyed making this card because it will go into our family scrapbook. Of course, I'm going to make more of these for my boys scrapbooks too. Happy Stamping!
Stamps: star spangled day
Paper: night quite navy, real red, whisper white,
Ink: night quite navy, real red, color ink from computer
Accessories: computer, photo, sticker, white signa pen, ribbon, foam tape, star brads, square punch, su pierce tool/mat
TLC237 Fabric Yo-Yo Flowers
Well, the technique challenge took a bit longer than I anticipated today. My husband's idea didn't work, so I came up with one instead. The Technique Challenge today was to use Fun Foam and create your own stamp. I didn't have any, so I had some left over rubber from stamps. I took a back of a wood block and put the rubber pieces on it. When I trimmed the rubber, I sliced my finger using my kraft knife too. My poor finger was bleeding forever. Anyways, I have these yo yo flowers out of fabric in a bag so I thought it would be a great idea to use them as a stamp. It worked. I tried it a few times to get the look I was after. It always helps me out to look around my stash to see what I can substitute to play in the challenges. Have a great day!
Stamps: paint prints, watercolor gardens, garden greetings
Paper: taken with teal, purple, white
Ink: taken with teal, purple, old olive, versafine black
Accessories: wood block, fabric yo yo's, ribbon, stamp-a-jig, scissors, glue dots, buttons, embroidery floss, misc rubber scraps, kraft knife
TLC254 Windmill Baby Card and Doll Quilt
I made this doll quilt from a tutorial I've seen by Crazy Mom Quilts back in December for our Pastor at church to play Santa Claus to a little girl who asked for a doll for Christmas. So, I thought I would make her doll quilt for them to give to her as well. My Pastor and his wife thought it was a great idea. They were surprised at the matching pillow to go with the quilt too.
I love doing the Technique Challenes on SCS when I have the time. We were to use paper quilting in our cards, it was perfect timing. I created a card from the Windmill doll quilt shown in the picture using coordinating dp's. I needed a baby card and it worked out perfectly. I used a 1 inch square punch to punch out 12 flowered and 12 yellow blocks. To make it easier I thought was to punch out some green and pink blocks, glue them, and trim the access off. These were mounted onto a white piece of c/s. Once glued all in place. This took a bit longer than what I expected but I like the outcome! Thanks for coming by Bonnie's Corner.
Stamps su that's nice
Paper: bo bunny, misc dp's, pretty in pink, white
Accessories: cb swirl emboss folder, square punch, scissors, tombo glue, felt ribbon, foam tape, colored marker
FS156 Stained Glass Angel
You know, I made this card after a full day of sledding back in December. I wanted to play in the FS challenge so I stayed awake. The Featured Stamper Nicole known as Butterflyears has such a wonderful gallery it was hard to choose which one to case. We were to change at least 3 things from her card to make our card. This is the card I cased here. When I saw this stamp at HL, I knew I wanted to make it into a stained glass card. I followed Beate's instructions in the Resources. The only thing I didn't have was the embossing buddy in the tutorial. I looked online to see what I can substitute for it. It said to use Corn Starch with a sock). Then I patted the vellum with it to make the ink hold. I stamped this image with black ink onto vellum paper. Let dry. Then I used the clear emboss powder, heat set. I loved doing the next part. I flipped the image over and colored the image using the Bic Mark It markers and a white gel pen. Let dry. I attached the completed image onto vanilla c/s the same piece of vellum with a tiny strip of tacky tape. I added gold foil paper to the back and left 1/8 of an inch to fold back over the front (this hides the tacky tape inside the vellum). The corners were used as part of the WT191 challenge for using my corner rounder. I really enjoyed making this card. Thanks for the challenge and dropping by. Have a wonderful night!

IC218 One Touch of Nature

WOW! Am I finally doing an Inspiration Challenge. I don't know how I managed to do that with my sore back that's been bothering me. Anyhow, my boys were finishing up their quilt while I made a card. I love it when Stef posts these Inspiration Challenges early and today's inspiration came from a gallery of paintings from the Erte shop. I knew that I had to try to make a card using this photo here because I just took a picture that was similar to this. As we were driving home one day last week from sledding, I noticed there was a hawk swooping down to get his prey (which was a mouse on the side of the road, once he picked up his prey, he flew away and I got 4 pictures after that flying into the wooded snowy trees. Well, luckily I had my Nikon D80 with my high telephoto lens ready for the photos because that is what you see in the picture with the color. So, I decided to create a card tonight using this photo. I started out by taking the photo from the camera and printing it on white c/s. I printed the photo twice onto white c/s. Cut out image. I used clear emboss powder, and heat tool. Set aside. I traced a pattern that I made to make a window frame on the black c/s. I used the scor-pal on the sides but its hard to see in the photo. I also used the white gel pen along the sides, but didn't like it. Went back over the dots using a black sharpie. Set the main image inside using tacky tape. Used pop dots to set the hawk to make it pop out. I chalked the white c/s using grey chalk with a sponge. I stamped the phrase from The Touch of Nature stamp set and it is raised on a pop dot too. I wished I had the color ink, but I thought it would be ok for the inspiration since the main photo had a fish and that's what gave me the idea. Thank you Stef for the early post. But here it is, 2:!8am...hmmm! Have a great weekend.

FS147 Patchwork Card and Tote Bag
I made the Rag Quilt tote bag that is pictured here in the photo for my Secret Sister for Christmas. I belong to a group on SCS and we call ourselves Kota Kids. We draw names at Christmas and play Santa Claus. I thought making the tote bag would make it more interesting and that way I was able to fill it up with all this stamping stuff At the time, back in December the Featured Stamper was Mrs. Broz and I browsed her wonderful gallery and found a quilt card to case. Here is her card here. My secret sister loves "PINK". I was trying to get the card to look like the tote bag, so I decided to put faux stitching in between the lattice of the squares and also the dotted lines on the blocks. Adhered to black c/s as my base. Do you think I spoiled my SS? She loved everything that I put inside the bag, but loved the tote bag the best! Thanks for dropping by Bonnie's Corner!

SC256 happily Ever After

Good morning...the night owl is at it again! When my husband came upstairs at 3am, he asked me to open my mouth to see if I was a vampire...LOL! He also wanted to know how I function on 3 hours sleep. I actually took a nap yesterday afternoon. My son Dallas was waiting for the sketch challenge with me tonight while we were working on a jigsaw puzzle. By the time it came out, he was too tired to create but he did suggest making a road out of the curvy template. Great idea! The sketch challenge SC256 today was to use the template provided by Roxy. I cut it out twice once I printed it. Then the idea of using the road came really easy on what I wanted to do. I started out using some vaseline on white cs with a cotton ball. Did these for the blue and green. I used sponges with the blue and green inks and smeared onto the c/s until I got the look I wanted. (I rather do this type of sponging because it gives it a more softer look and no streaks of where the sponge has been). I cut the curvy template on white c/s and used the same technique as with the vaseline and black ink. I used several coats of the black with added pressure to get the road like this. Set aside. I used the circle punches to create the sun and part of the green grass, also with vaseline. Adhered with foam tape. I stamped the flowers along the edge of card with the circle in place. Colored the using color pencils and glitter. I stamped the only car I could find that would fit nicely on the road twice onto red c/s, colored with sharpies, added brads, and cut out. I cut the windows out of one, added presents and hand drew the peoples' faces. Adhered with pop dots. I used foam tape with tacky tape for the road and flipped it. I added the road lines using a white galaxy pen. I stamped the sentiment, trimmed around it, added embroidery floss from the car, and held it on using pop dots as well. I felt like it needed something else, so I added mini butterflies. I also was working with a separate piece of c/s to work with then after completed, I adhered to the base of the card. I had fun creating this challenge today Roxy and Peggy. Maybe later my son will create one too. Have a wonderful day and thanks for dropping by.
