Hello everyone!
I have been taking a few days to spend with my husband. He took some time off to work around the house. He has yet to do any of that...LOL! I have been taking him around town and enjoying the time together. I will be back in a few days. Have a great week!

Time Off!
Thursday, March 18, 2010
Gorgeous day!
It was such a gorgeous afternoon, so I decided to take my boys to the lake and ride. It's been awhile since riding my bike, I was a little nervous. I didn't want to fall. Then how would I explain that to my back therapist. Anyhow, we did do a 3 mile bike ride with a 1 mile hike on our feet. We skipped rocks and enjoyed watching the family of 6 deer in the pasture as we sat to view the lake. It was so peaceful too!

Log Cabin Memory Quilt for Mom
I've always wanted to make a memory quilt but I always thought they were alot of work. I made this for my mom for Mother's Day a few years ago, but I wanted to share with you today. My mom loves the color brown, so I decided to make her a quilt with her old pictures of all her kids with my dad. This quilt took about 3 months to complete because at the time I was making it, I was working in Minnesota. Plus, the pictures were all different sizes. The only time I was able to work on it was after my kids were in bed and on the weekend. It was time consuming but well worth the effort. My mom loves it. What a great way to display your memories. I have made a couple more since making this for wedding gifts. Thanks for peeking at my creations at Bonnie's Corner.
Trip Around the World Baby Quilt
Again, I was helping my sister make some baby quilts from the requests she gets from her vendors at her work. I was always a little bit scared to try this pattern of Eleanor Burns called Trip Around the World. It always looked complicated to me. But, I finally decided to try it here...OMG! It was so easy...now I want to make more patterns like this but in different colors. I used old fashioned baby prints from Rosie's Calico Cupboard in San Diego. I used to live there and used to visit her store all the time. Did you know that she started her business from her garage? Now, its a whole strip mall in La Mesa. I really miss home, maybe some day when my husband retires from the military, we'll move back home. Have a wonderful night and thanks for stopping by Bonnie's Corner.
A Quilted Rag Tote Bag

A friend of mine asked me if I would make one of my quilted tote bags for her Secret Santa at Christmas time. She told me that she would pay me to do it. I really liked working with these colors. I had some Moda fabrics in my stash that I bought awhile back during one of our travels here to Oklahoma. I always ask my husband to stop at quilt stores along the roads if I see the signs. But, I always carry my quilt travel book too, so we wouldn't miss any either...LOL! That's my secret! Anyhow, on this tote bag, I added a button latch. After making a quilt with this technique, I realized you NEED the rag quilt scissors because regular scissors aren't going to work correctly and also you will not get score hands. My friend really liked the way this came out too. Thanks for visiting Bonnie's Corner!
Pat's Tote Bag
I have a wonderful and dear friend whom I met through Splitcoaststampers and her name is Pat. She is such a loving, caring, and a very thoughtful person who is trully dedicated to God. She is such a talented artist too. Her SCS gallery is here. I wanted to surprise her with a special gift that she could use to carry her stamping stuff. I made this tote bag from 100% Homespun country fabrics with the inside blocks matching. I also made an inside pocket too. She loved it and was very SURPRISED! Didn't I say, I like making these tote bags? Thanks for stopping by Bonnie's Corner.
My First Rag Quilt Lap throw
I have been busy with everyday life, isn't everybody though. Even though I am a Stay at home mom...I rarely stay home! Always doing something, whether its spending time looking for fabrics for my next project, volunteering at school, and right now spending my time with my kids on Spring Break. Here lately, I have been addicted to making Rag Quilts, Rag Tote bags, and things like that. You know I've had this quilt book sitting on my bookshelf forever and one day while looking through, I told myself...you ought to try it! Well, I tried it...and I love doing them, especially the tote bags. Anyhow, this particular lap throw was my 1st attempt...didnt work out too well, but its mine and that's all that matters. The next time I make one of these the front flannels will match the back side. I really like the looks of it and will make more of these, maybe bigger! I hope you like it too. Stay warm!

IC223 Happy Birthday Dallas

I can't believe my son turned 13 on Sat. WOW! Happy Birthday Dallas. I remember the day 13 years ago trying to drive with my husband to the hospital because we were in the middle of a SNOW BLIZZARD in Minnesota. I closed my eyes all the way to the hospital of 15 miles. It was pretty wicked! Like I mentioned in the post earlier for my mom's card that I made yesterday here. I was thrilled to have been asked by Stef on SCS to use the Warm Biscuit kids bedding store here as the Inspiration Challenge. I was browsing fabrics one day and thought it was a great idea to use. I decided to make a card into a gift card holder to hold his Itunes gift card for his Itouch. The inspiration bank is shown here. One thing I like to do to do when I create a card, is try to make it exactly like the object. In this case, to get the realistic look to the football. I made it out of Kraft c/s, Cuttlebug Mesh emboss folder, and used the orange colored marker. Afterwards, I used the versamark ink, clear emboss powder, and heat tool. The doctors used to tease me when my kids were born and people still do. You already have your own football team started. Dallas weighed in at 10lbs and Cody at 11 1/2 pounds when they were born, they both love football. You know that my son is now 5'8 and has a size 11 shoe. I bet this summer he passes me up in height. I am 6ft tall too. Amazing! I really enjoyed making this card for my son. Have a wonderful night!

IC223 Happy Birthday Mom

Happy Birthday Mom, This past weekend, my mother turned 85 years old. My twin sister and I had an idea that we mentioned on SCS, is to try to surprise our mom with 85 birhtday cards. I'm not sure how many she has received, but the ones she did receive she loved. The notes, the talent, and the friendships she made really made her birthday a wonderful surprise. Our mom was so touched by all of you who took the time to send her a birthday card, thank you! You are the greatest!
Ohhh, I am so thrilled my suggestion site was nominated for the Inspiration Challenge for this week. I came across this wonderful site called Warm Biscuit found here when I was browsing for fabrics to make my next quilt with. It has some wonderful ideas for kids stuff and mom's too. I chose this inspiration wall art here.
I received this image from a great friend Nancyruth and thought it would work perfect for this. I also used my Cricut for the 1st time ever without help from my son. Have a wonderful night and I can't wait to see what everyone creates.
The back of the card reads "If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I would walk in my garden forever."

IC196 My Clutch Purse
You know, I look forward to the Inspiration Challenges that come out on Friday nights on SCS. They are my favorite. This is the clutch purse from the Moyna handbags store here. I started out by making the hand made purse by drawing a template. I made 2 extra pieces of the template so I can have a front and a back also. I take one of the extra pieces and used the cb textile emboss folder sideways. I used the saddle brown stazon ink with a sponge, a white colored pencil, and sand paper to distress the look of the folder. I used 3 different scallop circles for the flowers. I was looking through all my ink pads and couldn't find any color that I wanted. So I made some scribbles on watercolor paper with a pumpkin yellow prismacolor pencil. I rolled the tip of the flowers just a little bit and secured all 3 sizes with glue dots. I stitched the centers of the flowers with embroidery floss. I drew the lines for the vine with a pencil. The next part took about 10 minutes to do. I hand stitched the vine with embroidery floss with a needle. There is enough room for an opening that a gift card can fit into. I made an accordian style backing so the card can stand up. Once everything was done. This took a bit of time to make but I had fun doing it. Have a great night!
Paper: sandy cream, watercolor
Ink: saddle brown stazon
Accessories: cb textile emboss folder, prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, blending stumps, 3 sizes of scallop circle punches, office max brads, ms glitter, ms leaf punch, embroidery floss, needle, scissors, pierce tool, gray marker, tacky strip, sand paper
FS135 Family Memories
Our family is patriot and we really get into July 4th every year to celebrate the birthday. We either all wear Old Navy shirts representing the year or the kids and I will make our shirts. But we always wear our Americana hats. We go all out with the foods and American soda cans too. The Featured Stamper is Lori known as "LmcAree" and she has a wonderful gallery. I chose this card here. I decided to use a Family Photo from July 4th. I used white c/s through the printer/computer, sized to a wallet, and trimmed. I added star brads to the corners with my pierce tool. The photo image is mounted onto white/navy blue c/s and with foam tape for added dimension and same goes for the sentiment. The words are from my stash of stickers that are foil and mounted using foam dots. I really enjoyed making this card because it will go into our family scrapbook. Of course, I'm going to make more of these for my boys scrapbooks too. Happy Stamping!

TLC237 Fabric Yo-Yo Flowers
Well, the technique challenge took a bit longer than I anticipated today. My husband's idea didn't work, so I came up with one instead. The Technique Challenge today was to use Fun Foam and create your own stamp. I didn't have any, so I had some left over rubber from stamps. I took a back of a wood block and put the rubber pieces on it. When I trimmed the rubber, I sliced my finger using my kraft knife too. My poor finger was bleeding forever. Anyways, I have these yo yo flowers out of fabric in a bag so I thought it would be a great idea to use them as a stamp. It worked. I tried it a few times to get the look I was after. It always helps me out to look around my stash to see what I can substitute to play in the challenges. Have a great day!
Stamps: paint prints, watercolor gardens, garden greetings
Paper: taken with teal, purple, white
Ink: taken with teal, purple, old olive, versafine black
Accessories: wood block, fabric yo yo's, ribbon, stamp-a-jig, scissors, glue dots, buttons, embroidery floss, misc rubber scraps, kraft knife
TLC254 Windmill Baby Card and Doll Quilt
I made this doll quilt from a tutorial I've seen by Crazy Mom Quilts back in December for our Pastor at church to play Santa Claus to a little girl who asked for a doll for Christmas. So, I thought I would make her doll quilt for them to give to her as well. My Pastor and his wife thought it was a great idea. They were surprised at the matching pillow to go with the quilt too.
I love doing the Technique Challenes on SCS when I have the time. We were to use paper quilting in our cards, it was perfect timing. I created a card from the Windmill doll quilt shown in the picture using coordinating dp's. I needed a baby card and it worked out perfectly. I used a 1 inch square punch to punch out 12 flowered and 12 yellow blocks. To make it easier I thought was to punch out some green and pink blocks, glue them, and trim the access off. These were mounted onto a white piece of c/s. Once glued all in place. This took a bit longer than what I expected but I like the outcome! Thanks for coming by Bonnie's Corner.
Stamps su that's nice
Paper: bo bunny, misc dp's, pretty in pink, white
Accessories: cb swirl emboss folder, square punch, scissors, tombo glue, felt ribbon, foam tape, colored marker
FS156 Stained Glass Angel
You know, I made this card after a full day of sledding back in December. I wanted to play in the FS challenge so I stayed awake. The Featured Stamper Nicole known as Butterflyears has such a wonderful gallery it was hard to choose which one to case. We were to change at least 3 things from her card to make our card. This is the card I cased here. When I saw this stamp at HL, I knew I wanted to make it into a stained glass card. I followed Beate's instructions in the Resources. The only thing I didn't have was the embossing buddy in the tutorial. I looked online to see what I can substitute for it. It said to use Corn Starch with a sock). Then I patted the vellum with it to make the ink hold. I stamped this image with black ink onto vellum paper. Let dry. Then I used the clear emboss powder, heat set. I loved doing the next part. I flipped the image over and colored the image using the Bic Mark It markers and a white gel pen. Let dry. I attached the completed image onto vanilla c/s the same piece of vellum with a tiny strip of tacky tape. I added gold foil paper to the back and left 1/8 of an inch to fold back over the front (this hides the tacky tape inside the vellum). The corners were used as part of the WT191 challenge for using my corner rounder. I really enjoyed making this card. Thanks for the challenge and dropping by. Have a wonderful night!

IC218 One Touch of Nature

WOW! Am I finally doing an Inspiration Challenge. I don't know how I managed to do that with my sore back that's been bothering me. Anyhow, my boys were finishing up their quilt while I made a card. I love it when Stef posts these Inspiration Challenges early and today's inspiration came from a gallery of paintings from the Erte shop. I knew that I had to try to make a card using this photo here because I just took a picture that was similar to this. As we were driving home one day last week from sledding, I noticed there was a hawk swooping down to get his prey (which was a mouse on the side of the road, once he picked up his prey, he flew away and I got 4 pictures after that flying into the wooded snowy trees. Well, luckily I had my Nikon D80 with my high telephoto lens ready for the photos because that is what you see in the picture with the color. So, I decided to create a card tonight using this photo. I started out by taking the photo from the camera and printing it on white c/s. I printed the photo twice onto white c/s. Cut out image. I used clear emboss powder, and heat tool. Set aside. I traced a pattern that I made to make a window frame on the black c/s. I used the scor-pal on the sides but its hard to see in the photo. I also used the white gel pen along the sides, but didn't like it. Went back over the dots using a black sharpie. Set the main image inside using tacky tape. Used pop dots to set the hawk to make it pop out. I chalked the white c/s using grey chalk with a sponge. I stamped the phrase from The Touch of Nature stamp set and it is raised on a pop dot too. I wished I had the color ink, but I thought it would be ok for the inspiration since the main photo had a fish and that's what gave me the idea. Thank you Stef for the early post. But here it is, 2:!8am...hmmm! Have a great weekend.

FS147 Patchwork Card and Tote Bag
I made the Rag Quilt tote bag that is pictured here in the photo for my Secret Sister for Christmas. I belong to a group on SCS and we call ourselves Kota Kids. We draw names at Christmas and play Santa Claus. I thought making the tote bag would make it more interesting and that way I was able to fill it up with all this stamping stuff At the time, back in December the Featured Stamper was Mrs. Broz and I browsed her wonderful gallery and found a quilt card to case. Here is her card here. My secret sister loves "PINK". I was trying to get the card to look like the tote bag, so I decided to put faux stitching in between the lattice of the squares and also the dotted lines on the blocks. Adhered to black c/s as my base. Do you think I spoiled my SS? She loved everything that I put inside the bag, but loved the tote bag the best! Thanks for dropping by Bonnie's Corner!

SC256 happily Ever After

Good morning...the night owl is at it again! When my husband came upstairs at 3am, he asked me to open my mouth to see if I was a vampire...LOL! He also wanted to know how I function on 3 hours sleep. I actually took a nap yesterday afternoon. My son Dallas was waiting for the sketch challenge with me tonight while we were working on a jigsaw puzzle. By the time it came out, he was too tired to create but he did suggest making a road out of the curvy template. Great idea! The sketch challenge SC256 today was to use the template provided by Roxy. I cut it out twice once I printed it. Then the idea of using the road came really easy on what I wanted to do. I started out using some vaseline on white cs with a cotton ball. Did these for the blue and green. I used sponges with the blue and green inks and smeared onto the c/s until I got the look I wanted. (I rather do this type of sponging because it gives it a more softer look and no streaks of where the sponge has been). I cut the curvy template on white c/s and used the same technique as with the vaseline and black ink. I used several coats of the black with added pressure to get the road like this. Set aside. I used the circle punches to create the sun and part of the green grass, also with vaseline. Adhered with foam tape. I stamped the flowers along the edge of card with the circle in place. Colored the using color pencils and glitter. I stamped the only car I could find that would fit nicely on the road twice onto red c/s, colored with sharpies, added brads, and cut out. I cut the windows out of one, added presents and hand drew the peoples' faces. Adhered with pop dots. I used foam tape with tacky tape for the road and flipped it. I added the road lines using a white galaxy pen. I stamped the sentiment, trimmed around it, added embroidery floss from the car, and held it on using pop dots as well. I felt like it needed something else, so I added mini butterflies. I also was working with a separate piece of c/s to work with then after completed, I adhered to the base of the card. I had fun creating this challenge today Roxy and Peggy. Maybe later my son will create one too. Have a wonderful day and thanks for dropping by.

SC245 Sunflower for You!

Good morning! It's the night owl again. I had just finished making a baby quilt when the sketch challenge came out. Well actually I just made the top portion of the quilt, still need the borders, and etc. I will finish the rest of it tomorrow. I decided to play the sketch challenge since I was up. I started out with a premade window card for the black base of the card that I had in my envelope drawer. I think I got them at a garage sale. The window part has a backing to it, along with the actual back, so when you open the card...the window is hidden. I received the sunflower image from Nancyruth awhile ago and I wanted to play with it tonight. I cut 3 panels from old olive. I also cut a piece of dp and a little scrap of yellow and used the cb emboss swiss dots folder. Distress, sponged in black, and adhered to green panels. I then used the piercing tool along the edges, except for the 2 sides on the sunflower. I colored the sunflower using prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. My eyes were starting to get tired by this point, hopefully it looks ok. Adhered. I added ms ribbon, used a cb mini die cut tag, and stamped the sentiment. added eyelet and tied on with embroidery floss through the ribbon. Attached the panels. I used 2 different corner punches, pop dots, and dew drops to the corners. I also added sandalwood glitter on the cb swiss dots panel and the sunflower. I had fun making this card but honestly I didn't know where I was going with it. Thanks for the sketch Roxy! Have a wonderful day!

WT235 SC244 Happy Birthday Erin!

The Ways to Use it Challenge today was we were to create a card using RED. I love RED. I actually just made this card a couple of days but not the day the sketch came out. I couldn't figure it out, I must of been tired. So, I walked away from it and did it Tuesday. This works out perfect since I have to work at the schools today. My nieces turned 5 this week, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a card for her. She is my twin sister's daughter. I received the Sugar Nellie image from one of my penpals but I can't remember who it was...help me out Connie (kk) or Khara. I started out by using the cb textile emboss folder on the bliss blue c/s. Adhered to the base of card. I used glitter dp for the 2nd layer, and white for the top layer. I colored the image using my favorite technique which is prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. I added glitter to the tiny flowers. I sponged lightly around the image with blue ink. I added white brads and the famous Faith dots around the edges of the panels. I hand wrote the sentiments and used file tabs to mount. I also added 2 prima flowers and buttons to finish this card. I enjoyed making this card and I hope she likes it. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

FS136 Welcome Baby!

OMG! What was I thinking trying to stamp when I am so tired. I was busy today checking out a stamping garage sale at the scrapbook store called Trade Days. Then I taught a few techniques later on in the day. I did manage to sneak in a short nap too. My sister had called me about 11:00pm and asked me if I was going to do the Featured Stamper tonight. Well, since she woke me up, I decided to play. Oh, I did get some great deals today at the sale too. The Featured Stamper is Steuber known as Shannon and we were to create a card like hers but change a few things. She has a wonderful gallery and there was quite a few cards I wanted to case. I wanted something that looked a little simple. I chose this one. I started out by stamping the image onto watercolor paper on the back side (didn't want the lines to appear when I colored) I colored the image using primsacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. But this was my 3rd attempt, so hopefully it looks presentable. For the ground, I used a brown colored pencil and free hand the line. I used the same technique on the ground with the pencils, but used the pastels chalk for the sky with a sponge using a mask over the elephant. I mounted the image onto a rose red layer and added white dots around the border. I then colored the dots on the elephant gray, but I didn't like it. I went over them with a white galaxy pen too. I didn't like it. So I ended up putting self adhesive pearls on the dots. I used a separate piece of white c/s to use the cb swiss dots emboss folder and added ribbon. The image is raised with 3D dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment with black ink right on top of the swiss dots. For what I went through, does this look ok? Thanks for dropping by and a have a wonderful Sunday!

LSC236 It's A Bookmark!
Well, since I was up anyways making a birthday card for my niece, I decided when I was done I would play the Limited Supplies challenge. I'm impressed at myself tonight...I did 3 challenges, whoo who! The Limited Supply challenge was to create a card from the leftover c/s when making a square card. It was to measure 4x 1.5 inches. This size reminds me of small versions of bookmarks. While making mine, I thought this would be a great idea for lunch box notes. In my case, tonight...this is for my husband. I started out with the size of the card being 4x1.5 out of navy blue c/s. I distressed the edges using the distress tool and sponged around with brown ink. I cut a smaller piece of kraft c/s and used the cb distress emboss folder as my stripes. I used the small cb star die cut on the navy blue c/s as well. Placed a small piece of kraft c/s behind the cut out star. Sponged. I covered the stripes the best I could to just ink the red part of the stripes using red ink. I distressed all edges and sponged with brown ink around the edges. I stamped the sentiment, distressed, and sponged. Adhered to card. I got lots of other ideas using this idea...thanks for the great and fun challenge. Have a great Friday!
The inside of the card, I cut a piece of kraft c/s and stamped 2 tiny stars on it. Sponged. And it says
"for all you do!".

FS133 My Own Weeds
Last Spring, we took the boys tent camping. It was a lot of fun. While on our hike, we came across a field of these flowers, well I thought they were flowers until my sister told me they were weeds. When I saw the FS Stamper Jojot known as Joanne and her wonderful gallery, I chose this card here. She had an actual photo. What a great idea I thought. I think my mom will like it anyways. Do you?
Stamps: fantastic foliage, su misc clouds
Paper: black bazzill, yoyo yellow, white, old olive, bliss blue

IC192 With Love
Well, I am finally done with my card but I am not happy with it. It's only my 3rd attempt at creating. I think I was tired tonight after rearranging my boys rooms. Tomorrow, we are going to the watermelon festival so I knew I wouldn't have time to create a card. The inspiration challenge for today was to create a card from the Bellacor Vases store. I chose this vase. I didn't have the poppy flowers so I used roses instead. I started off by rubbing a little bit of vaseline onto the bottom portion of the white c/s with a sponge. (I find the vaseline helps set the ink with a smoother effect). Next I used old olive ink with a sponge into the vaseline. Let sit for a minute. I handmade the stems with a mustard colored marker right onto the c/s. I colored the roses with a brush pen and used the huffing technique to stamp them. I used a tiny dab of a black colored pencil for the center of the roses. I made a boo boo on the right hand corner on the bottom, so I stamped the sentiment with black ink, sponged, and punched out a square. Adhered. I just noticed that it is smeared. I tied a ribbon to the top to complete this card. (I had already used the ribbon punch on the card, and I didn't want to start over). Adhered to the base of the card. (I also work with a separate piece of c/s instead of right on the card base itself). What a trouble this was for me. I would probably use this for an example for the next card. It's not one of my best IC challenges but I wanted to play. Thanks Stef! Have a wonderful weekend! What do you think?
Stamps: watercolor gardens, hero arts
Paper: white
Ink: versafine black, old olive
Accessories: vaseline, sponges, marvy brush markers, square punch, silk ribbon, black colored pencil, paint brush, ribbon punch
IC190 Button Flowers
I decided that I was going to do a challenge tonight which happens to be my favorite. I haven't had much time lately to make much cards because my kids have kept me pretty busy. Plus, I have been volunteering at church for the Clothes Closet. The inspiration challenge was to create a card from the Better Homes and Gardens Living Room gallery. I chose this button pillow here. It worked out great for me tonight because I am really tired. I wanted something simple. This card is a small thank you card and it is 4x4. I started out by using the small square punch on the corners of the card to make it look like the pillow. I cut the inner panel to fit to the edge of the inside corners. I used a white galaxy pen to make the stripes on the outer edge of the card. I attached the ribbon using glue dots and also the 2 sizes of the buttons. I stamped the sentiment because I felt like it needed something there in the lower right hand corner. Does this look ok? I adhered the ruby red c/s panel to the olive c/s with tacky strip because of the weight with the buttons. Thanks for the challenge and letting me relax. Have a wonderful night!
Stamps: teeny tinies
Paper: old olive, ruby red
Ink: black stazon
Accessories: buttons, glue dots, mini square punch, white galaxy pen, tacky strip
FS116 Get Well Soon Dallas
Well, I decided to stay up and do the Featured Stamper. I wanted to make a get well card for my older son Dallas. He has been in a cast for a few weeks now and is unable to do a few things, like play his trombone. He also loves turtles too. Hopefully this card will cheer him up. The Featured Stamper is known for Wattle and we are to case a card and change at least 3 things from her card. I chose this card to case. I started out by using the cb allegro emboss folder on the mustard c/s and mounted it onto vanilla. I cut a piece of music dp and ran it through the cb swiss dots emboss folder. Adhered to black c/s. The music panel is held on with foam tape. I used the a square punch to add the sticker as my image onto vanilla c/s. (I had to trim the turtle from the sticker sheet so no white was showing and adhered to vanilla c/s) Cut out using the kraft knife. The turtle is held on with foam tape. Adhered to the scallop square c/s. The turtle image is also held on with tacky tape. I used the pierce tool and the signa pen for all edges of the panels. I used the cb mini die cut tag and handwritten the sentiment with the signa pen. Added an eyelet to the tag. I added 2 stickers as my fake brads to the top right hand corner. This was fun to make for my son. I hope he likes it. Thanks for dropping by.

IC177 Get Well Soon Cody
Well, I have been busy with my son's baseball and not being able to stay up all night to do these challenges. I seen that my sister (stamp300) stayed up though. I have been too tired to do that lately. Now, my son has strep throat and has been out of school for a few days. I thought I would make him a card using today's challenge which happens to be the perfect inspiration. Thanks Stef! The Inspiration challenge for today was from the Kleenex website. I chose the Holiday Kleenex with the musical penguins. My son loves music, penguins, and is using a lot of kleenex for his running nose. I started with printing the template onto the blue c/s. Cut out. I made another piece of the template for the back of the card to use like an actual card, so it would open. Here is the template. I used the cb allegro emboss folder just on the front of the cup. I colored the embossed parts with a white and blue pencil chalk. Rubbed my finger over the chalked embossed parts to make to give it a dull look. I tried to do the rims of the cup the best I could using part of the cm oval cutters (just on the top of the rims) to cut out and adhered. I did the same for the inside of the cup too. I used tacky tape for the edge along the bottom and the side where the handle is to keep is closed. I left an opening for a tea bag to fit inside. The inside of the mug has ice blue c/s with the rims attached. I hand wrote "get well soon" with the signo pen. I also hand wrote his name on the bottom of the cup. I stamped 2 penguins with black ink. I colored them using the black brush pen to make them darker. Cut out. I made the penguins beaks out of orange c/s. I stamped the snow hat with red ink and went back over it using a red marker. Cut out. I hand made the instruments that the penguin is holder with the red hat. The instruments are held on with pop dots. For the other penguin I made 2 slits, one on each side of the neck so I can insert the ribbon for the scarf. Used glue dots to secure. I used a sticker for the trumpet. It is held on with pop dots. I put tea as the insert and maybe he'll drink it, but I thought this would cheer him up a little bit. I had fun making this card. Hopefully, my son will get well really soon. Thanks Stef for this perfect inspiration challenge. Have a wonderful weekend!

WT219 FS119 Just Bee Cause
WOW! It's been awhile since I last made a card and I involved this card with 2 challenges. I decided I that I would take a break from stamping for the month of May due to the sickness in our family. All is well now. Today's, Ways to Use it Challenge was to create a card using the same stamp several times. I also didn't get to play in the FS for Joan Ervin on Sunday, so I played last night and here is the card I cased. Here is my story: Our theme for our local card swap that I am in was called Just Because. When I first thought of that...bees came to my mind. I started out by sponging with yellow ink onto the top note c/s. Next, I stamped several tiny bees with masking for the background dots as well with black ink. I went over the dotted lines with a black pen. I used the cb swiss dots emboss folder onto the yellow c/s and used the corner rounder. I also colored the bees with fine point markers. I added the ribbon before adhering the top note to the card with foam tape. I stamped the bigger bee onto a scallop circle onto white c/s and sponged with yellow ink as well and mounted it onto a black scallop circle. I added white dots around the edges of the black scallop circle and the base of the card with the white signa pen. I stamped the bigger bee again with black ink and colored just the yellow lines of the bee/face. I used clear emboss powder and cut out. I kept cutting the antennas, so I just left them off once I mounted it onto the stamped bee on the scallop. Does it still look ok? I added ms fine white glitter to the wings and added googlie eyes. The bee is held on with foam tape. The sentiment is from the computer, trimmed, and place underneath the bottom part of the bee. I made 5 of these, but I made these the last minute when I should of made them earlier in the month. They were due today. But I couldn't stamp being sick. Thanks for the challenges and have a Bee-tiful day!

LSC221 Roll on Over...It's a Bowling Party

Hmmm, I saw the challenge late last night but my darn allergies got in the way so I couldn't finish it. When I saw the LSC, the first thing I thought was a bowling ball...being a bowler myself (well I use to be anyways). I finished the card today after I took a nap this morning after putting some Viscine in my eyes. But I don't think I followed the rules quite well either, but I was on a roll and went with it. Here is my story: When I saw the Limited Supplies Challenge and it was for The Circle of Life...meaning, making a circle card or to use any circles in your creations. You also had to use all the sentiments and stamps from one stamp set. Anyhow, I started with cutting 3 black circles from c/s with the cm cutting systems. I cut 2 smaller white circles for use of the inside of the card. I used another white circle for underneath the cutout holes for the ball. I placed one black circle c/s and adhered to the inside front to where the black would be solid. I typed the sentiment from the computer (word document) and trimmed to fit on the front of the card. I used the cb circles to cut the holes for the fingers. The bowling pins are stickers. The inside of the card I stamped the RSVP information with black ink on the white circle. The sentiment is also from the computer in word document and printed onto c/s. I also added a bowling pin sticker. In order for the card to open and close correctly, I scored 3/4 inch lines on black c/s, used the circle punch to make an accordian, and adhered with tacky tape. I hope this works for the challenge even though the sentiments and stickers aren't from the bold invitation stamp set.

IC181 My Buck Tooth Monster
We just came home from my son's baseball game and wanted to check for the challenge before I went to bed. I decided to do something really simple tonight because it is really like a sauna upstairs where I create. Then the computer wants to not cooperate either, grrrgh! Here is my story: The Inspiration Challenge was from a shop called Odd Forest and we were to create a card based on what inspired us in the store. I chose the Pins and Buttons shown here:
I really wanted to make a purse but maybe if I have time I will try something else. I started out by making the circles from white c/s for the base of the card using the cm circle cutting systems. I also used the cm oval cutting system for the mouth with black c/s. I used the mini square punch just above the oval shaped piece of white c/s to make the teeth. I used 2 different circle punches for the eyes. Adhered to lime green c/s. Adhered to white base card. I also made an accordian fold so the card can open and close. The accordian fold is held on with tacky tape. The inside of the card says "Happy Halloween, my little monster!" Thanks for dropping by.

SC241 WT233 My Scarecrow
Ahhh, its been quiet around my house lately...but I like it. Although I miss my kiddos. And my husband is at school in North Carolina for his job in the marine corp. Anyways, one of my pen pals is hosting a Fall Swap and this is what I came up.I finished my swap cards yesterday and thought it would work for the challenge today. It's been awhile since I played the Ways to Use it Challenge, so I figured I would try it today. I couldn't find anything else to add that was a true vintage, so I just stuck with what I had in mind already. I used vintage dp, homespun fabric, stitching, embroidery floss, and even a button. That to me in vintage in itself. I started out by cutting the dp to make it fit the sketch. I used the sewing machine with the zig zag stitch on the dp. Adhered to base of the card. I stamped the scarecrow from a misc CTMH set with black ink onto watercolor paper. (I usually flip the watercolor paper over and use the flat side) I used prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps to color the scarecrow. I sponged light blue ink around the image. I used a flat clear embossing powder for the heart and heat set. I used a straight stitch to go around the edges on the watercolor paper with the image. Adhered to red c/s. I stamped the sunflower onto watercolor paper and used the same technigue as I did with the scarecrow. Cut out! I added a button with embroidery floss and it held it on with glue dots. I wanted to use a piece of jute, but I had to substitute it for the fabric piece as my ribbon. Adhered image to card. I hope you like it as that I had fun making it. I made 5 so far, and will see about the count I need for the swap soon. Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful afternoon!

FS131 Seed Shooter
Hmmm, today was a great day! We spent some family time at a Watermelon Festival here in Oklahoma. OMG! I haven't seen so many at a time before, it was amazing. There was some even in the contests weighing in at 132lbs...WOW! Anyhow, I wanted to create a card using some sort of watermelon on it. The Featured Stamper is SleepyinSeattle and what a wonderful gallery she has. It was hard to choose a card, but I picked this one. I started out by making circles with 2 different size circle punches. Adhered! I layered the circles out onto the cream c/s and then trimmed to size. I added 2 more panels for b/g layers and added white dots around the edges onto the black base of the card. I stamped the image with black ink and let it sit for a minute before I started coloring it. I used prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. I put some 2-way glue onto the watermelon, used clear emboss powder, and the heat gun to add shine. The image I cut out using the cm circle cutting system but I thought it came out a little bigger than I what I wanted. I hope it looks ok. I added 2 brads to complete the look. The circle with the image is held on with foam tape. I had fun making this card because I thought of all the watermelons we saw today. They were delicious! Thanks for dropping by!

IC195 Country Cats
Hmmm, I probably should have named this card a little different than what it is. It should be "BAD CAT". My cat whose name is Oreo has been peeing on the carpet...luckily its in my den. But still. So, out comes the carpet shampoo AGAIN! So, it has got me thinking about whether or not to keep her. She is only 1 years old too. Any suggestions? Anyhow, when I saw the Inspiration Challenge tonight from the store Creative Wall Coverings I knew I had to make my card using the cats from the inspiration I found in the bathroom gallery here.
This is my story: I started out by making the center panel. I hand drew the dotted lines and added the strips with the white signa pen. Let dry. I went back over them using a tan sharpie. Have you tried that before? I cut 2 smaller panels for the sides that have the cats on them. I hand drew the dotted lines and the lines for each of the panels as close as I could to the picture using sharpies. Adhered. I used the small square punch for the diamonds. I hand wrote the sentiment using the white signa pen, let dry, and went back over the words using the sharpie pen as well. Adhered to tan colored c/s...(don't really know what color this is). I added random specs using a black pencil in between the squares. I had gotten this stamp set of 4 cats from a garage sale awhile back but don't know the name of it. I stamped a few cats with black, more mustard, and tea dye inks onto the back of watercolor paper. I colored them using primsacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. Went back over on a few cats with the white pen. Some of the cats are held on with pop dots as well as another cut out image with a pop dot to get the effect of a 3D look. A couple of cats are just laying flat. The 2 side panels, the cats are on there with pop dots. I enjoyed making this card but at the same time, I kept thinking of my cat...what am I going to do? Thanks for the challenge and have a great Saturday!

WT234 The Good Life
Well, I thought I was going to have time to play the Ways to Use Challenge today. Instead, I worked at the school and got side tracked later on in the day. Anyhow, I've always wanted to make a shaker card and I thought it would be a great time to do it here. The Ways to Use it Challenge today, was we were to create a card using using any type of sand. Whether we used sand, sand paper, and etc. I chose to do both. I started out by making the shaker part first by following the wonderful instructions by Beate in the Resources. To make the frame, I used a square punch 4 times inside. Instead of the acetate paper, I used the package from the tacky strip. I stamped the snoopy image with black ink onto watercolor paper. I colored the image using prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. I added a little bit of sand that I took from my son's misc sand pile for sand art. Once I got everything mounted for the part of the shaker scene, I had realized that I forgot to color in the sky. Does it still look ok? Darn it! I also mounted the foam tape on the top part of the frame, which means when I took it off, the paper came off too leaving a thin layer of white showing. I measured kraft c/s, used the cb distress stripes folder, and metered the corners. I used the corduroy distress ink for the frame and also for the b/g of the card. Went over it using the sand paper. I didn't have any mesh for the bottom of the card where the sentiment is, so I used a piece of shelf liner. I stamped the sentiment and colored. I stamped the seashells using different distress inks, cut out, and mounted. I had a fun time making this card, but wished I would of gotten it done this morning. I really think this is where I am suppose to be.

WT241 My Friends Mom's Blouses

OMG! Is it me really doing a challenge? I'm impressed...just been so busy here lately. My mom was up here visitng for a for awhile, kids sports, and quilting.
When I saw the challenge today, I had to play. I have been working on a friend of mines quilted wall hanging. As we moved to Oklahoma 3 years ago, my friend in Missouri asked me if I would make a wall hanging out of her mothers silk blouses in her mothers memory. Long story short. The movers packed the bag of the quilt squares in a box that I just found in the attic last night...something told me to look in this particular box. I thought I would finish it for her. I will send it off tomorrow. So, I decided to go with the extra squares of fabric from the fabric used in the quilt. The quilt itself gave me lots of heck though because it is silk, and silk seems to move alot when you sew with it...at least with me anyways. I added the buttons from the blouses and tied them onto the quilt with embroidery floss. Do you think she'll like the quilt? I still have a few blocks left over, so I thought about making a pillow. The Ways To Use It challenge was to create a card using fabric pieces. Worked out well for me. I cut the squares and adhered to c/s with a light batting. Stitched together! Attached using tacky strip to a piece of c/s and to the base of the card. Added buttons to the squares with glue dots.
Paper: vanilla c/s
Accessories: silk blouses (3 designs), sewing machine, scissors, buttons, tacky strip,
IC207 Smiling Cherries
Well, its been really really busy with my quilting projects and I was having a rough night. I hate it when I don't get enough of the fabric for what I am working with, grrr!...but good thing that my storage room is filled with fabric to substitute some pieces to go with what I am making. Anyhow, I took a break from sewing and decided to check out the inspiration challenge. Right up my alley. My son Dallas also wanted to play too. The Inspiration Challenge was from a wonderful gallery of fabric buttons from Aimoobaroo Etsy shop. Here is the button that inspired me http://www.etsy.com
view_listing.php...ng_id=33526540. It had to be an easy one so I can get back to my sewing. I started out by stamping the cherries and leaves with colored markers and using the huffing technique right onto the tan c/s. I went back over the image using the markers to make them appear darker. The base of the card is tan also. After the image was colored and I handmade the face on the cherries, I used the cb bubbles folder (flipped it, so the flat part is the wrong side up for this look) through it. Adhered to base of the card. Easy peasy! Thanks for having this challenge and letting me ease my mind. Have a great weekend!

FS130 Flowers say Hello

WOW! 2 challenges for me in a weekend. I am impressed with myself. I was just about to go to bed when I saw the FS challenge post early. I am very tired after cleaning and going through stuff in the attic. So, I thought I would create a card to relax my mind. It was a really hard choice to pick a card for the Featured Stamper known as V.A. Sunshine...wow, quite the gallery. I decided to go somewhat simple so I chose this card. I liked the simplicity it gave. I started out by cutting my c/s that was needed for the base and b/g panels. I used the cb flower strip on the red c/s and added black hole punch centers to the flowers. I added the ribbon and tied a knot/bow. I stamped the phrase with black ink onto white c/s, trimmed, and mounted with foam tape to the red panel. I adhered all panels to the card. I really liked the way this card came out. I had to use the scanner because I wanted the red to be red unlike the camera would make it look orange. I really need to go to bed, it's 1:40am. Shh! Don't tell my dh! I hope you like it. Thanks for dropping by!

IC197 The Tranatula

Ahhh, I don't know about you, but I can't stand the look of spiders. When I picked up my boys from school earlier, they both looked at me and said "OMG, what is that?" I said, "What is what?"...they said LOOK! Look at the garage side panel...A HUGE SPIDER! I said, that's a Tarantula. OMG! I immediately said...that thing has to go. I thought my husband was playing a joke on me because sometimes he does things like that. Wrong! It was real, because it moved. Every time my older son tried to move it with the broom stick, we all screamed! It was too funny! Our neighbor ended up picking it up and taking it to the pasture behind his house. Ok, onto the Inspiration Challenge. We were to create a card from the CWDKids website. I chose this ...spider web t-shirt. Well, since I had the experience with dealing with a tarantula earlier in the day, I thought it would be an idea that I do this inspiration. I started out by using the cb spider web emboss folder onto black c/s. Then I took the MS fine glue tip and went over the embossed webs and sprinkled white glitter on it. I did this process for a good 10 minutes. I wanted it to be sparkling. That was time consuming. I created the tarantula to resemble the one that we had at our house, not the photo. It was an orange colored one with orange legs. YUCK! I used 2 size oval punches for the body and the scallop circle punch for the head. I ran the body and part of the head through the cb bubbles folder as well. I made 8 legs with the corner punch and used a smaller corner punch for the orange. I added googlie eyes, small hole punches for the eyes and nose. I even gave the legs a little bit of distressed look to make it look hairy. I used the small cb spider die cut and hand written the sentiment with the white signa pen. I went back over it using the pumpkin pie Mark It Markers. The sentiment, tarantula, and the small spider are held on with pop dots. I had fun creating this card using glitter as my focal point. Thanks for the cute inspiration Stef. Have a wonderful Sat and thanks for dropping by. What do you think? Can you see the white glitter on the web? It dawned on me this morning, that I could of used dp glitter paper instead of going through the hassle of making my own. I like my way better.

CC235 SC193 Scary Movies
I've been up for a few hours this morning due to my allergies. So I decided to make a couple of cards. I hardly ever have time to create a card using the color challenges and today was perfect. We were to use "old olive, basic black, and eggplant. Or something similiar. This is an old sketch but I decided to use it again. I got the inspiration from sleepinseattle's gallery which is
this but I changed a few things. I started out by designing the film strip. I stamped the images onto white c/s using black ink. I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils, blending stumps, and mineral spirits. I then attached the black strips. The film strip is glued onto green c/s. I used the ribbon punch for the film strips. I added square brads to the corners. I used dp from Imaginisce for the background. I used the CB mini zig zag folders on the green panels and attached them to black c/s. I also added bat ribbon that I got from Michaels and tied the tag on that reads $1. I added the $1 symbol using the white gel pen. The "1" is a sticker I had in my scrapbooking letters bin, so I put it on the faux tag. I wanted something to read "movies" towards the top of the card, so I went to my husbands tool box, found the label maker, and made the sentiment. The film strip is held on with pop dot squares. I used SU Pastels chalk for the background behind the stamped images and added googlie eyes to the ghost. I also added some MS bats to finish. This was really a fun card to create. Thanks again for the challenge! Does this meet the color requirements? Have a great day!

LSC238 Spooky Tree
Whew! I've been very busy the last few days working at son's school and finishing up making baby quilts. I have missed playing the challenges, sspecially the one for today for the numbers. I should of made some birthday cards for my twin sister and my husband tonight. Today's Limited Supply challenge was to create a card using Halloween spooky colors. I've also wanted to try stamping with these flourish stamps. Just never knew how to use them. I thought I would give it a try here. I bought these clear stamps from Walmart by Autumn Leaves. I stamped one image 4 times in different directions with black ink onto only orange c/s. I sponged around the edges with ink. I used the cb swirls on orange c/s and mounted it to a piece black c/s. I added a piece of white c/s and used my cb swiss dots folder. I found this tree stamp in my misc. bin and thought it would be great for a wicked tree. I stamped it using black ink, used my 2-way glue, black emboss powder, and heat set. Sponged around the edges and mounted. I used my scalloped circles for the house and added white dots using the galaxy pen around the circle. All the layering are held on with pop dots. I also added bats using my cb boo set. This was a fun challenge too! TFL! Have a wonderful day and thanks for the early post!

Happy Halloween! Our kids had their Halloween night last night because of the OU SOONERS football game here in Norman. The city thought it would be safer for our kids not to Trick or Treat on the actual day because of all the traffic and drinking drivers, so they moved the day to last night. Worked out well! Congrats Ms. Boo, she is The Featured Stamper and what a wonderful gallery she has. What a perfect night for her. We were to create a card using 3 different things on our cards from one of her cards. Although, I didn't create a card using the Halloween theme, but I chose a Christmas card. Here is her card I cased . I actually started on the image awhile ago and had the cuttlebug stashed away. You gotta have those, right? I started out by using the CB Snowflake folder on white c/s. I layered it onto kraft and red c/s. Same gpes for the strip. I added a thin ribbon to the bottom before I mounted the strip. I pierced all the way around the kraft c/s and the little circle of the sentiment. I went back around using the white galaxy pen around the edges. I stamped the monkey with black ink onto white c/s as well. I colored him with Prismacolor pencils but only used the goo gone and blending stumps on the monkey. I added liquid applique for the white parts of his hat, glove, and boots. I used my CM circle cutter for the circles and cut 2 half circles for the red, just enough to make the outer circle a little bigger. Actually the red and the kraft are the same size cut out. The image is held on using pop dots to give it the 3D effect. I stamped the sentiment which reads "OH WHAT FUN...HAPPY HOLIDAYS" from Studio G. I added the pearl to complete the card. I hope you like it. Have a great night. Thanks for looking!
