IC177 Get Well Soon Cody

Well, I have been busy with my son's baseball and not being able to stay up all night to do these challenges. I seen that my sister (stamp300) stayed up though. I have been too tired to do that lately. Now, my son has strep throat and has been out of school for a few days. I thought I would make him a card using today's challenge which happens to be the perfect inspiration. Thanks Stef! The Inspiration challenge for today was from the Kleenex website. I chose the Holiday Kleenex with the musical penguins. My son loves music, penguins, and is using a lot of kleenex for his running nose. I started with printing the template onto the blue c/s. Cut out. I made another piece of the template for the back of the card to use like an actual card, so it would open. Here is the template. I used the cb allegro emboss folder just on the front of the cup. I colored the embossed parts with a white and blue pencil chalk. Rubbed my finger over the chalked embossed parts to make to give it a dull look. I tried to do the rims of the cup the best I could using part of the cm oval cutters (just on the top of the rims) to cut out and adhered. I did the same for the inside of the cup too. I used tacky tape for the edge along the bottom and the side where the handle is to keep is closed. I left an opening for a tea bag to fit inside. The inside of the mug has ice blue c/s with the rims attached. I hand wrote "get well soon" with the signo pen. I also hand wrote his name on the bottom of the cup. I stamped 2 penguins with black ink. I colored them using the black brush pen to make them darker. Cut out. I made the penguins beaks out of orange c/s. I stamped the snow hat with red ink and went back over it using a red marker. Cut out. I hand made the instruments that the penguin is holder with the red hat. The instruments are held on with pop dots. For the other penguin I made 2 slits, one on each side of the neck so I can insert the ribbon for the scarf. Used glue dots to secure. I used a sticker for the trumpet. It is held on with pop dots. I put tea as the insert and maybe he'll drink it, but I thought this would cheer him up a little bit. I had fun making this card. Hopefully, my son will get well really soon. Thanks Stef for this perfect inspiration challenge. Have a wonderful weekend!
