SC75 Carols Groovy Challenge

Hello everyone!
I belong to a pen pal group here on SCS and Carol suggested that we make a challenge card using a stamp set that we never inked before. I combined 2 challenges together to make one card. I used a card sketch SC75 over at www.splitcoaststampers.com. When I saw this paper in my stash, I knew what stamp set I wanted to use. I cut 3 DP into 3 inches and ran them through the cb swiss dots folder. I mounted them onto yoyo yellow c/s. I then added the ribbon and tied with a bow. I stamped the car onto vanilla c/s with only orange ink. I colored the small flowers on the car with my fine tip markers. I added brads for the wheels. I also added a flower brad for the antenna. The image is mounted onto taken with teal and only orange c/s. The image is held on with pop dots. I wanted the flowers to look similar to the dp so I chose 3 of the same Primas and added dew drops to the centers. Also held on with mini glue dots and pop dots. I stamped the sentiment from a Christmas $1 stamp. This was fun to make. Thanks for the great challenge. I am looking forward to more challenges.
Have a groovy day!

SC186 Happy Birthday

WOW! It's been awhile since I last posted a card. I have been in a rut. Plus I have been mighty busy. My boys have since then started back to school which makes it easier to stamp. I thought I would try this challenge for my niece who is turning 4 in September. I wanted it pretty and simple. She also loves monkeys so this was perfect. I started with 2 sided dp from Big Lots and ran them through the CB Swirl and CB Swiss Dots folder. I stamped the monkeys onto watercolor paper on the back side. I colored the image using my primascolor pencils with odorless mineral spirits and blending stump. I also used sheer polka dot ribbon. I used diamond glaze for the monkeys and the frame around the sentiment. The green is slightly different but it will do. This was a simple card to do and my niece will love it. Thanks for dropping by.

EEEK! I Hate Mice

It seems as though lately we have been getting a lot of mice. Once a day. They freak me out whatsoever. I hate the thought of them being in my house. Today, I woke up at 6am because I heard the trap go off. Wouldn't you know it, it was the darn mouse. I took the flashlight and pointed it right into the eyes. He was ALIVE. OMG! It freaked me out. The trap only got its tail. The mouse kept moving the trap along with its tail stuck in it to the other side of the wall, but got caught up in the cords behind the tv. I got my kids up so they can help me while I move the entertainment center. As I moved the tv stand, the mouse moved. It was squeeking too. I need to hire a cat because my dog just sits there and won't catch up it. Anyhow, I ended up hitting it with the broom and it got away. So, now it's still in my house somewhere. We live in a house where no one lives behind us, which is a pasture of fields and trees. They are in the processing of building new homes and I'm thinking that they are taking the mice homes. I want to be able to sit at my computer quietly without having to hear for traps or any kind of squeeks. Thanks for listening to my story. Here is a picture of one that accidently fell into the dogs water dish.

Times Square

Hello everyone! I know its been awhile since I last posted something. My kids keep me mighty busy and also I have been working on making a baby girl quilt for my sister who has orders. I told my sister I would help. The only time I can really sew is late at night when the boys are sleeping. I called this quilt Times Square due to the criss crosses and the blank squares. The print on these fabrics are from the Antique collection that I got from a quilt store awhile back but I can't remember the name of the designer. I am happy with the results. This was my 1st attempt to doing a triangle hourglass, so when I was cutting the fabric, I cut way too much. I have enough fabric triangles to make 10 more baby quilts for girls. I hope she likes it.
Thanks for dropping by.

Saving A Life

I'm just posting some exciting news, since I haven't been able to stamp or quilt in awhile. We had our baseball pool party at a friends house and one of the boys didn't know how to swim. His mother failed to let anyone know that. Anyhow, my son Dallas was swimming and noticed that the boy wasn't playing around. He kept yelling "help me, I'm drowning" it was a scary moment. But my son knew exactly what to do just remembering what the lifeguards told him while we were stationed back in Missouri. The boy is pictured in the blue swimming trunks and my son is the one with the water gun. I was so proud of Dallas too. My son happened to be there, as that siblings were allowed to swim too. My younger son is sitting next to him with the blue goggles. Both of my boys been swimming since they were born. The parent of the boy wanted to give Dallas something for saving his life. He told her, I was there at the right time at the right place where he needed me. No need for rewards for saving a life, he says!
Have a great day!

Exciting News

My son Cody has put off learning how to ride his bike without training wheels. He is 7 years old but has no fear in anything else. But for some reason, he didn't want to learn to ride his bike. He has been riding his scooter trying to catch up with my older son and the rest of kids on our block with their bikes. Today, as I was checking my email. I saw Cody trying to ride his bike with the one training wheel on it. It wasn't working very good. Cody told me that the wheel would get in the way of his pedaling and asked me to take them off. He also told me that he was ready. OMG! he's been on that bike all morning and not wanting to get off. We told our kids when they learned to ride their bikes without training wheels, then we would go get a new bike for them. My oldest son who is 11, learned at age 7 on Mothers Day. That was exciting too. This weekend we'll go and let Cody pick out a new bike. I knew he could do it. He wanted me to know that he wanted to learn at his own pace and not by others telling him to do it. Smart kid! I wanted to share this excitement with you!
Have a great day!

Celebrating America

Hello!
I hope everyone had a fun day celebrating America on July 4th. Our family went to this huge park and had a picnic inside the bed of my husband's truck. It was pretty cool. We all wore red/white/blue Old Navy shirts as well. Including our hats. Do you like our table? It hooks to the trailer hitch. We get a lot of compliments on it. I found it at a garage sale a few years ago. We had fun hanging out playing football and soccer until it got dark for the fireworks. Our best fireworks that we have liked so far were in Missouri overlooking the lake. Then they ended it with a display of God Bless America. But, we like them here in Oklahoma too.
Enjoy!
