LSC238 Spooky Tree

Whew! I've been very busy the last few days working at son's school and finishing up making baby quilts. I have missed playing the challenges, sspecially the one for today for the numbers. I should of made some birthday cards for my twin sister and my husband tonight. Today's Limited Supply challenge was to create a card using Halloween spooky colors. I've also wanted to try stamping with these flourish stamps. Just never knew how to use them. I thought I would give it a try here. I bought these clear stamps from Walmart by Autumn Leaves. I stamped one image 4 times in different directions with black ink onto only orange c/s. I sponged around the edges with ink. I used the cb swirls on orange c/s and mounted it to a piece black c/s. I added a piece of white c/s and used my cb swiss dots folder. I found this tree stamp in my misc. bin and thought it would be great for a wicked tree. I stamped it using black ink, used my 2-way glue, black emboss powder, and heat set. Sponged around the edges and mounted. I used my scalloped circles for the house and added white dots using the galaxy pen around the circle. All the layering are held on with pop dots. I also added bats using my cb boo set. This was a fun challenge too! TFL! Have a wonderful day and thanks for the early post!

FS143 Changito Cocoa

Happy Halloween! Our kids had their Halloween night last night because of the OU SOONERS football game here in Norman. The city thought it would be safer for our kids not to Trick or Treat on the actual day because of all the traffic and drinking drivers, so they moved the day to last night. Worked out well! Congrats Ms. Boo, she is The Featured Stamper and what a wonderful gallery she has. What a perfect night for her. We were to create a card using 3 different things on our cards from one of her cards. Although, I didn't create a card using the Halloween theme, but I chose a Christmas card. Here is her card I cased . I actually started on the image awhile ago and had the cuttlebug stashed away. You gotta have those, right? I started out by using the CB Snowflake folder on white c/s. I layered it onto kraft and red c/s. Same gpes for the strip. I added a thin ribbon to the bottom before I mounted the strip. I pierced all the way around the kraft c/s and the little circle of the sentiment. I went back around using the white galaxy pen around the edges. I stamped the monkey with black ink onto white c/s as well. I colored him with Prismacolor pencils but only used the goo gone and blending stumps on the monkey. I added liquid applique for the white parts of his hat, glove, and boots. I used my CM circle cutter for the circles and cut 2 half circles for the red, just enough to make the outer circle a little bigger. Actually the red and the kraft are the same size cut out. The image is held on using pop dots to give it the 3D effect. I stamped the sentiment which reads "OH WHAT FUN...HAPPY HOLIDAYS" from Studio G. I added the pearl to complete the card. I hope you like it. Have a great night. Thanks for looking!

FS144 My Christmas Rag Quilt Card

This is my busy time of the year making quilt throws for family and friends. I had just finished making my 1st rag quilt out of flannels last night but its not the size that I expected it to be...Long story, short...I didn't cut enough blocks because I ended up making a lap throw. I still liked how it came out.
The Featured Stamper is Chrisations.ink and she is a quilter as well as a great stamper. What a gallery she has...We were to choose a card and change at least 2 or 3things to create our card. I chose this card http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/788588 because I am a quilter as well. I said to myself, hey...why not make a flannel quilt card like the quilt I just made without the raggedy edges. Worked out great! I started out by cutting my scraps of flannel into one inch squares. I adhered them to c/s and made the pattern look like the quilt. I was having trouble with threading the needle to my sewing machine, so I decided to just use a fabric marker to make the stitching lines. The center took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with because of the holly leaves blending right into the fabric. I added sheer ribbon (which I got tons from a SU garage sale for 5 cents a yard) I think I have enough ribbon that can last me for quite awhile and have lots of colors too. I adhered to the black c/s as the base of the card. The holly leaves were already green, but I colored them with a light green sharpie to make it more like the green in the fabric. I added a prima flower and brad with glue dots to the ribbon. I liked how this came out but I had a hard time deciding if I needed a sentiment on it, maybe I will add it later. Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Paper: black
Accessories: Christmas flannel, rotary cutter, prisma flowers w/holly leaves, su sheer ribbon, black fabric marker, tacky strip, glue dots, fastener

TLC248 My Handmade Christmas Stockings

OMG! You won't believe what I went through for the technique challenge today. It's suppose to have been a simple stocking gift holder...it literally took me up until 2:30pm to complete it. Here is the wonderful instructions found here. Here is my story...Since some of you know that I am a quilter. I make many things such as quilts, purses, tote bags, and even Christmas stockings. Well, while I was in the process of making my gift card stocking holder this morning...I thought for a minute and said "I ought to find the stockings that I made the boys last year in the attic to match". Long story short. I went through tons of Christmas totes in the attic with little light 3 times...finally got mad and screamed "WHERE IS IT" and was so upset. Anyways found it after I had some tea...I started out by following the tutorial and printed the template on c/s. I traced the pattern onto the back side of the plaid dp because I was almost out of ink to see clearly. I did twice, one for the back of the c/s also. I know I didnt follow the instructions throughly but I got it to look like hers anyways...headache going on. I mounted the plaid all the way to the top inside and again for the top outside. I cut a small piece of cream and stamped the phrase onto it. Sponged the edges. Used hole punch! I couldnt find any Christmas trees that would look just right so I had to draw one, cut out, and used the cb swirl emboss folder on it. I used the cm circle punches to create the snowman body. I stamped the scarf onto dp, cut out, adhered to body. The eyes are brads, nose is ribbon, and the star on the hat is also a brad. I stamped the hat onto white c/s and colored it black and adding white dots. The rest of the stars is punched from yellow glitter paper. I used the cb swirls folder on the snowman as well. I think the next one will be easier for me since I brought down both stockings. I did leave the toe and heel off because I wanted it to look like the Christmas stocking.

Stamps: handstitched snowman, thanks snow much.
Paper: misc dp, red, cream, green, brown
Ink: black
Accessories: stocking gift card holder template, printer, scissors, cb swirls emboss folders, ribbon, brads, cm circle punches, star punch, star brad, kraft knife, tacky strip, glue dots, white signa pen, hole punch

CC246 TLC248 Merry Christmas Lisa

I belong to a Pen Pal group on Splitcoast Stampers and we call ourselves Kota's Kids. We drew names at Christmas time and I picked my friend Lisa. I combined the color and technique challenges from SCS to create this. One thing about this, I made it with no sleep. I don't sleep much because I create at night. I will look forward to making these again because it was easy peasy! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

WT246 My Gingerbread Man

Happy Thanksgiving! My husband was suprised at me this morning that I was still up at 3:00am. He still doesn't know how I do it...but I do! I think its because I have been doing that thing called EXERCISE every morning...Just have to do it! I am really going to HAVE to do it after today with all the sweets! The Ways to Use It Challenge today was to create a card with something sweet. Anyone is welcome to come over to my house and eat sweets with us, especially the pies. Anyhow, I picked these chipboard books of all Christmas shapes at Michaels for $1. I chose the Gingerbread one today. I collect anything that has to do with Gingerbread men/houses. I started out by tracing the gingerbread man onto a piece of light brown c/s on the fold plus one so I can work on the main body. I rubbed vaseline with a dryer sheet and used distress ink for added color. I also used clear emboss powder on it. I added 3 heart buttons on the body, one heart brad that I colored red (because it was pink and added liquid applique on it for the chest). I used the piercing tool to added the hearts brads for his cheeks, a red shiny brad for the nose, and 2 googlie eyes. I adhered to card base. I couldn't find anything that I really liked for the mouth, so I used a part of a punched out decorative corner punch and trimmed. I added liquid applique for the curvy lines on the head, neck, arms, and legs and let it dry. I didn't want to use the heat gun because I didn't want the bubble look, so I left it the way it is.

Paper: kraft
Ink: Tim Holz brushed corduroy distress
Accessories: gingerbread chipboard book, vaseline, dryer sheet, sponge, clear emboss powder heat gun, heart buttons, heart brads, tacky tape, brads, liquid applique, red sharpie, pierce tool

IC209 Chocolate Florals Pendant

WOW! Just in time! I just got home from picking my son up from the skating rink tonight, and checked to see if my favorite challenge came out. Ok, need to ask a question? How old would you let your child stay at the skating rink with his friends and wait until he (my son is 12 yrs old) calls you to pick him up about 9:30, that was the designated time for all parents to pick their child up? I guess I am just a nervous mom, but he did ok! Ok, on with the Inspiration Challenge. I really like it when they come out early, thanks Stef! We were to chose something that inspires us from the Lady Charm Boutique and create a card. I chose the Chocolate Florals Pendant here.

This took me a couple of times, I almost forgot how to emboss. I stamped the image (a stamp I got at a garage sale along time ago and never used it) using versamark on white c/s. Embossed with black powder. Next, I sponged with teal ink several times to get the look I wanted all around. I then used the versamark again (getting nervous at this point, hoping it works...been a long time) all over the embossed image and the teal area. Embossed with clear powder. I then mounted it to the base of the card. I think it looks ok, my son says its the opposite of what the real picture looks like! Thanks for having the early post and for dropping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Stamps: Great Impressions misc flowers
Paper: white
Ink: ctmh robin egg blue, versamark
Accessories: clear and black emboss powder, heat tool, sponge
