FS148 Happy Birthday Cody!

Good morning! I have been working on a costume for my son Cody who will be in the Christmas parade next weekend. He is so excited about getting to dress up as his favorite zoo animal which is a monkey. He attended the zoo to learn how to be a zookeeper for a week and they asked him if he would like to be in the parade. Plus, I was really a bad mom and didn't get around to making his birthday card in October when he turned 9 years old...we were all sick with the flu back then. He has since then remembered! So here it is...The Featured Stamper known as Michele, such a delightful gallery. I chose this card. I struggled with this card because I think I was tired. My eyes weren't adjusting to my new reading glasses. Anyhow, I started out with using the cb swirls emboss folder on the brown c/s. I stamped the image onto white c/s with black ink. I colored the monkeys with prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. I stamped the image again onto the dotted dp, cut out, and just paper pieced the balloon. I added 3 brads and used the piercing tool along the edges of the white c/s after I sponged with distress ink. The extra heart you see here wasn't going to be here, but I did an oopsy and made a boo boo with a dab of glue...darn it! I said to myself, I wasn't going to do this all over again. It was getting late, and any later I wouldn't be able to get up for church. So, I used the cb mini heart and added it to cover the spot. Does it look ok? Adhered to brown and yellow c/s. Mounted on with ms pop dots. I used the window punch, hand wrote the sentiment, and attached using pop dots also. Thanks for dropping by and viewing my card. Have a wonderful Sunday!

IC210 Vintage Butterfly

Whew! What a week! I have been making doll quilts, costumes for a parade, and Christmas cards. I wasn't suppose to be making a card tonight but my twin sister (stamp300) called me and asked me to play. I just finished sewing a skunk costume for my son who will be in the parade tomorrow morning. The Inspiration Challenge is my favorite so I had to play.

We were to create something for the Inspiration Challenge from the Esty store called Sushipot. It was a tough one. But I chose this
one. I really didn't want to make a round card tonight, but I did.

I started out by stamping the butterfly onto black bazzill c/s with versamark ink. I applied black emboss powder with the heat tool. I colored the black spots and the whole card (which was a 5x7) with a cream colored pencil. I stamped the whole card with versamark again and used a clear emboss powder also with heat tool. I decided that the color didn't look creamy enough, so I used a cream oil pastels crayon and colored it. I then embossed it again using the Deep Impressions clear emboss powder to make it look shiny. I cut the circles out using the CM circle cutting system. I really didn't know what I was going to use for the points, so I decided to use the CM Star punch for the edges. Embossed the points of the stars too. Adhered with glue dots. I embossed with the clear deep impressions for the inner circle too and cut out. Adhered to butterfly circle to the base of the card. This was a little bit of a process because of trying to get the color right...I hope it looks ok!
Have a wonderful night and thanks for dropping by and taking a peek!

LSC251 Recycled Tile Ornaments

Well, I have literally been up all night creating Christmas ornaments for my son's class. I don't know why I wait until the last minute, but I did. We do this every year. These aren't the ornaments that I was making for his class. These were accidental. Today's Limited Supplies Challenge was to create something with Silver or Gold in your creations. I call these ornaments accidently because while I was trying to get one of the hooks off one of the clear glass balls to insert some ribbon through the hole, I had to bend the silver edges backwards. I said...wait! I have an idea! I started out by taking the 1 1/2 inch tiles and adding dp with mod podge. Twice! I sprayed them with clear arcylic and let dry for a few moments. I bent the silver edges of the ornament hook back to where they sit flat. I used the crop-a-dile to make the center hole bigger, so I can add a button brad using hot glue. Once dried, I added ribbon to the edge of the aqua ornament, and left the ribbon off the redish ornament. I couldn't find any silver ribbon the size I wanted so instead, I intertwined the colored ribbon and the silver cording. I attached 2 knotted ends to the back of the tiles with hot glue. These were fun to create, but I was suppose to be working on a teachers gift. Thanks for the interesting challenge and thanks for dropping by!

FS150 Merry Christmas Frosty

Hmm, just got home from a date with my husband (which doesn't happen very often). He took me to a dinner and comedy show, it was hiliarious! Anyhow, I am so tired but I wanted to play tonight!

The Featured Stamper is known as Benzi. She has some wonderful cards in her gallery. I chose this card. I just got done making 15 of these snowman cards and thought it would work for the FS tonight.

I started out by using a 4x4 piece of red c/s and stamped white snowflakes all around. I used the a square punch for the window. The inside card is lined with olive green c/s which is also stamped with snowflakes along side of the message. I don't have a smaller size square punch for the white c/s of the snowman, so I used the square cb die cut. I stamped the snowman onto the white c/s with black ink. I colored the image using Bic It Markers. I added liquid applique for the hat and snow. I added ms fine white glitter to the snowman. I adhered the image to the inside of the card, lined accordingly. I stamped the sentiment and added ribbon to complete the card. I'm so tired to play correctly and hope you don't mind. Have a wonderful night! Thanks for dropping by!

IC212 LSC252 Our Oklahoma Home

Merry Christmas everyone! All the kids wished for a White Christmas and we sure did get one! Well, we had an usual Christmas this year in Oklahoma...could you believe on Christmas Eve we had blowing snow at 65mph and in our yard we had over 6ft of snow drifts. We ended up with 12 inches of snow. I thank my lucky stars that we had all our Christmas shopping done on Wed. Today, the kids and I played in it and made snowman's while my husband did the shoveling. It made us think why we sold our snow blower while being stationed in Minnesota. Today we saw tractors as snowplows, weird!
Todays Limited Supplies Challenge is called It's A Wrap.

We were to create a card using scraps of wrapping paper, ribbon, or something from a greeting card. I chose all 3 things. I also saw the Inspiration Challenge and found my inspiration piece here from the PoshTots store. I found the perfect house and snowman on a Christmas card. I was trying to make the card look like my house. I started out by cutting the house and the snowman out of the card. I had torn 4 pieces of white c/s and adhered with glue. I placed the house inside one of the white snow c/s. I punched out 3 MS Christmas trees and adhered to the snow as well. I adhered the snowman too. I added liquid applique to the white edging of the torn paper, Christmas trees, the sky, and went over the spots on the house (which were already there). I made a little bit of smoke coming from the chimney and colored it gray with the liquid applique. I also added blue c/s to fit underneath the white c/s and adhered in place. I stamped the single row of Christmas lights, colored them using colored markers, cut out carefully, and adhered them onto the edge of the house. I stamped the deer, colored it, and cut out. I added a tiny bow from wrapping paper, cut out, and adhered to the wreathe that was already on the door. I stamped the Nativity scene with black ink and used colored pencils. Cut out! It is held on with a pop dot. I really had fun creating this Christmas card because it reminds me of our house this year...Thanks for the challenge and my husband wanted to know why I was creating a Christmas card. I told him for our scrapbook! Thanks for dropping by and taking a peek. Have a wonderful night!

IC217 Scrap Note Card Tote Bag

OMG! I can't believe it! I am doing a challenge and its my favorite one. I have been so busy with other projects, finishing up a quilt I am doing for our church auction. I also been busy with my boys who have been out of school the last couple of days due to our wonderful snow/ice storm. Tomorrow we are going sledding!

I knew I wanted to play the Inspiration Challenge tonight because it fit perfect for me. I just made a friend a gift out of fabrics (wish I could share, but she will see it on here)...maybe she will post it once she receives it. Anyhow, we were to pick something to create from the Esty store...and this is what I picked. It's similar to what I made and it will go along with the gift.

I started out by following the great tutorial by Angie from Chic'n Scratch here. I changed my handles just a little bit. I eyeballed the shapes and glued them to the front and the back of the tote bag. I used the scor-pal, tacky tape, and scissors as followed. I added square brads to hold the handle together on each side. I used a small piece of tacky tape to hold the ribbon for the handle of the tote bag. This really was quick and easy to do, but I was helping my boys with their quilts they are making on the sewing machines. They will give them to the seniors that live across the street from us. It felt good to finally do a challenge and thanks Stef for always posting early. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

Paper: bravo burgundy, basic black, lemon yellow, cranberry, brilliant blue, old olive, pumpkin pie
Accessories: scor pal, tacky tape, tombo glue, ribbon, square brads

IC220 My Geese Puzzle

WOW! I have taken some time off from stamping and sewing to sort things out in my life. I just started back with back therapy and its driving me crazy, but it has to be done. And I have been doing alot of brisk walking/running around our lakes and trying not to let the geese get me frightened. That is my biggest fear is those GEESE that like to hang around. It's not like I carry food with me on my walks, but they seem to block me or run me down. I'm terrified of them. Have you been chased by geese before? Anyhow, its one day at a time for me for awhile, and I happened to be up when my favorite challenge came out...whoo who!

The Inspiration Challenge today is from the Lark stocks. They really have some neat things in there that are handmade, but I chose this puzzle.
The 3rd one on the top row. I chose this particular one because of my adventure with all the geese on my walks, I love puzzles, and I love to quilt...fits perfectly for me.

I started out by using the square cb die cut folder on the cream and red squares. I trimmed some of the red squares to make the curve for the tail, body, and head. I used the oval punch for the ear and cut in half. I cut a small square of black into a diamond for the beak. The feet are also squares cut at an angle. I used the small oval punch for the corner and a circle punch for the eye. All punched out squares are on another piece of c/s behind them. This was easy peasy for me and it worked perfectly too. Thanks for dropping by! Have a great weekend!
