FS101 LSC202 The Cursed Heart

I named this card "The Cursed Heart" because if anything went wrong, IT WENT WRONG! This is the image that I had a fight with for the Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS which I never got done until now. I had to set it aside for a couple of days. When I saw the Featured Stamper Jaydekay's gallery tonight I thought I would try to create a card casing one of her cards. I started out by stamping the heart with versamark ink onto vellum. I used black emboss powder and heat set. I colored with markers on the embossed side. Cut out! This is where I had a fight, because every which way I put it, it didn't look right with anything for the LSC. So, here it is in the FS. I mounted the image onto a scrap of dp (it really does have fainted hearts in it, hard to see) and sponged with black ink around the edges. Mounted on black. I added gold cording across the front and mounted it using 3D pop dots. At first, I had regular rhinestones, but I changed them to hearts which I embossed gold. I had to make 2 separate pieces. Long story about the red background. I'll make it short. I ran out of my favorite red, and this is the only piece I had left with the sponged black on it. I hope it looks ok. Then I took another piece of scrap of the same red and used the decorative heart punch and added gold ribbon to hide the seam. Didn't I tell you that this is the heart image that wanted to win the fight? Well, I think I won, because I used it tonight, plus it's in 2 challenges. Have a blessed day.

I really didn't have the time nor the energy to create a card today. Today was my big grocery shopping and I am just tired. So, I had just completed this card a few days ago and thought it would work for todays Ways to Use it challenge. This is a combination challenge. I really had fun admiring all the lovely cards made by Jaydekay as the Featured Stamper. I decided to do another card and this is the one. My kids have been stamping with me all day and they wanted to learn how to watercolor with pencils, so I showed them on this card. I stamped the grapes onto watercolor paper with black ink. I colored them using Prismacolor pencils, Odorless Mineral Spirts, and blending stumps. I accidently spilled the OMS everywhere on the table and we all laughed. I said mistakes happen. They thought it was funny because it was ME that did it this time. I sponged around the image with mustard ink and used the distressing on the edges as well. I used the versamark pen on the grapes, clear emboss powder, and the heat tool to give it a shiny look. It's hard to see in the picture. I used a piece of eggplant and old olive c/s, and used the cuttlebug swirl folder on them. Attached to black c/s. Pierced around the edges on both. I did the same technique on the bottom layer so far as the distress, sponging, and the piercing goes. I pierced the black c/s edges by hand because it was hard to see through the piercing mat because of the dark c/s. I added more piercing with the tool on the grape image in the corners. I added gold cording to complete the look. You know what's funny, is that after I completed this layout. It dawned on me that her image from flowers and not grapes. Well, I pulled an all nighter again...but it's been a few days since I last did that. I needed the rest...my body told me so. I stayed up for a couple of reasons also. One was my kids and their friends are sleeping outside in their tents...we are talking about our tents that we really use to go camping in, not toy ones. So, I was upstairs working on my local swap cards and saw that the sketch challenge came out also. I didn't want to sleep in the tents again, not this time. Still kinda sore from last night.
You know, that I completely forgot about my niece's 6th b-day, well not really...to send a card yes I did. So I decided that this card is for her. She is my twin sister's (stamp300) daughter who turned 6 on Monday. I received the Sugar Nellie image from my pen pal Khara, isn't she cute. My niece loves purple, glitter, and likes to read. I thought this would be perfect for her. I colored Nellie with prismacolor pencils, baby oil, and blending stumps. You can't see her skin tone, but it is colored lightly. I added glitter to the flowers on her hat as well as diamond glaze for the heart necklace. It's matted onto blue and gold c/s. I cut the strips of dp all the same, but made a pattern, and measured 1/16 of an inch shorter on the 2 ends to make the sketch work. Mounted on blue c/s. I used the new corner punch from EK for the corners and adhered. I added white dots to the areas with the galaxy pen. For some reason, I am not having any luck with any gel pens. I used the cb flower die cuts for the flowers, added glitter, and colored the centers using a sharpie. I tied a bow with sheer ribbon and added the sentiment using a cb tag. The image is mounted using foam tape on glitter dp. This was really fun to color and make. Hope you like it, now I need to get busy on my local swap cards. I must be addicted! I should be in bed and not making cards. We had gone to a movie tonight for my son's b-day and got home around 9...kept checking to see if the inspiration came out yet. I was hoping because we are going to Texas tomorrow. Anyhow, I made a card.To be honest I really dont know how I made this card. My eyes were wanting to close, just a little tired is all due to my busy day. The inspiration challenge is from the Fitz and Floyd store and here is the plate I chose :http://www.fitzandfloyd.com/product/...izer+plate.do#. I thought for sure it was going to be easier than what I had planned. I started out using the CM circle cutting system on blue c/s which is the base of the card. Set aside. I cut another circle for the white, orange, and yellow. I sponged the white circle with teal and blue ink. I adhered the thin yellow circle to the white circle, now blue and cut smaller pieces from the orange circle. Adhered also.I adhered to the base of the card. So it opens like a card. I used a regular size hole punch for the circles on the blue c/s (was white) and adhered them the best I could without making a glue mess. I had a few bunny stamps but nothing that I thought would really go with the size of this card. I made my own bunnies. I used the window punch and cut to size for the hands. Added gray lines on the paws. I hand drew and cut out the face. I ears are from the small oval punch. Trimmed to look like ears. I hand drew the eyes, mouth, and colored with a pink colored pencil the nose and cheeks. I handmade the bows as well. They are colored with colored pencils too. This was really a challenge for me to do tonight. But this is my favorite challenge and I wanted to give it a try. Thanks Stef and Eggette for the idea. Have a wonderful weekend!

I went to bed early last night, must of needed the sleep. My 8 year old was reading me a book and I was laying on his bed, he ended up on the couch. Now I am wide awake. I have been busy playing with the Resources and having fun creating. Anyhow, I came up with 2 cards for the Ways to Use it challenge today. The challenge was to use green on our cards. I really like the thumping technique, so I gave it another try here. I started out coloring the image with markers and using a darker marker inside the flowers. I used the green marker for the stems. Huffed on the image and stamped it onto white c/s. Added little bit of glitter for sparkles. I mounted the image onto cranberry c/s. I stamped the sentiment with black ink and used the circle punch. I also used the scallop circle punch to mat. They are both mounted onto the dp with foam tape. Matted onto olive c/s. I made a small slit in the side with my kraft knife so the ribbon can go through. Tied the bow. I added white dots with the galaxy pen around all edges. I really like this technique and will use it more often. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day.

Good morning! I've been up since last night when the challenge came out, but I have been working on my Easter cards for my pen pals again. I was in the middle of a card, so I put the sketch on hold for a bit. Until now.
I can't believe I completed the sketch challenge in one night though, that's pretty amazing. I had an idea already set in my mind, so it made it easier to deal with. I made this card for my son Dallas who turns 12 on Friday. You know that is Friday the 13th? Anyways, he is a HUGE Dallas Cowboy's fan and even though this isn't Cowboy dp, I decided to make it look like it was. He'd still like it. We are driving to Texas (which is only about 3 hours) this weekend to shop for Dallas Cowboy bedroom stuff...like the comfortable, etc. I started out with the metallic silver star dp and cut to size. Do you see it shine? I cut all the silver as well. The silver is actually poster board I had laying around. Once the silver c/s was mounted, I then used the piercing tool on all the edges. Mounted onto the blue c/s. I cut a piece of white c/s and used the navy blue colored marker with a stencil to add the number 12. I had wrote his name above the number. Mounted, pierced, and attached to card. I cut out a star, added a brad, and secured it on with blue c/s. I had to cut out another star for the blue. I stamped the sentiment with blue ink, mounted, and attached. This was fun to make and really easy. It did take me some time to get the right point for the half diamond layer, but I figured it out.

Ok, maybe I should call this card something else because it gave me heck all morning. On top of that, my camera wanted to change the real color of the photo because of the light I am having to adjust all the time until I get the camera to the doctor. So, I had to scan my photo today. At least this way, you are seeing the real color. I seen the color challenge come out this morning about 1:30am...yes, I was still up. I had to use the scanner for the photo because this photo looks more like red than what the color challenge was calling for, sorry. I am working on my pen pal cards. Anyways, when I saw the colors being always artichoke, rose red, and black, I knew I wanted to make a rose card. But the mojo wasn't there until later today. I started out by cutting an oval shape using the cm cutting system from the rose red c/s. I cut another oval piece smaller from the green c/s. I used the cb textile emboss folder twice and actually matched it up without messing it up. I sponged on top the embossing, the inside of oval, and the edges with black. I used the versamark ink pad and covered the whole RR c/s and embossed it using clear powder. Heat set. I mounted the green to the RR. I picked up this rose stamp from a garage sale awhile ago and thought I would use it here. I stamped it using black ink. I colored the roses with prismacolor pencils, baby oil, and blending stumps. I added a fine line on the tips of the roses with MS glitter. I added the white ribbon along with a sentiment tag. I used the MS butterfly punch for the butterflies and added mini rhinestones. Attached with glue dots. In the meantime, I went to mount the card onto the black, wouldnt you know the black had gunk all over the back of it...wrong pile. So needless to say, I had to trim away, recut, and remount the card again. I really struggled with this card. I hope you like it. Thanks for viewing my card and honest opinions please. Well, I started this Inspiration Challenge right at midnight when my son and I got home from Stamp Camp. He made 3 cards, whereas I made one. I have a hard time making simple cards. We had fun though. Ok, on to my story. Todays Inspiration Challenge is from the Flutter site and I chose The Chinese Blossoms pillow as my inspiration found here. When I saw this pillow, I knew what stamp I wanted to use.

I started out with stamping the flower image from Penny Black with cocoa ink onto banana c/s. I then took the blender pen (which I hardly use) to the stems of the flowers with pink, mustard, and cocoa ink. I also colored the flowers using the blender pen. I added clear emboss powder on the fan type flowers and heat set. The leaves are also embossed with clear. I used the flower punch for the bigger flower with olive and red c/s 3 times each. I used the corner punch from Friskars to add small flowers as well. The center of the pink flowers is the galaxy pen. The red and olive color flowers are punches. I added a button to each flower. I used the technique of Markie's Mom to use the dots on the edge of this card because I felt like it needed something else. I added ribbon and the sentiment to complete. These colors are really out of my comfort zone. so this was a challenge within itself. I hope you like it. Have a wonderful weekend!

IC161 My Polka Dot Dress

Finally I get to play with a challenge. My kids have been keeping me busy doing things with them before school starts back on Monday. They are hanging out with their dad today. Onto my story. This is a card I chose for today's Inspiration Challenge by Cake Nouveau. It is on Page 3, 2nd row, 3rd picture. I thought it would be fun to create a different kind of card other than the everyday standard types. I got the template from one of my quilt magazines and just altered it a bit. I traced the template onto white c/s and placed the shoulder part of the dress on the fold. Cut out. I used my small circle punch for the neck. I punched out several circles using the CM circle punch with 4 different colors of c/s. I glued them into their places. My husband suggested that I made the top part of the dress to make a 3D appearance to make the middle. I traced and cut out another piece from the template. Once the circles were mounted, I added a drop of diamond glaze to each circle and used my finger to spread it around to get a shiny but flat look. I added pop dots for the top piece of the dress. I also added the bow using glue dots, so you can still open the card without it coming off. This was really fun to make and I'm glad that I was able to complete a challenge. I hope you like my dress. WT205 Kobys Quilt and blanket

WOW! I had one heck of a day..The phone kept ringing, the doorbell rang, school called, and etc. Why is it when I see a challenge card in the morning, I can never get it down until later. Anyhow, here is my story.

Today's Ways To Use It Challenge was to use Fabric on our cards. I was excited about this one because my son just made a cat quilt for one of my pen pals here on SCS. I had just sealed it up to be mailed. Well, I took my scissors and cut the box to get the quilt out. Warning! Do not try to quilt while you have a cat in the room. She kept taking my chair. This was not the 1st project I had in mind. I actually had made a mini mini quilt to look like my son's quilt. I didn't like the way it came out. So, I decided to just do a card like this. I cut my fabrics to 1 inch squares and glued them onto chipboard. I added a 1/4 inch border around all sides. Trimmed. I attached it to the base of the c/s. I stamped the cat onto watercolor paper. I colored it using prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps. Heat embossed with clear powder. Cut out. I stamped the cat again, and colored it gray. Cut out. I added a piece of foam tape for a 3D look. It is attached to the quilt with fabric glue. I really didn't want to add any ribbon to this card, so I just used my window punch, eyelets, and hand wrote my friends cat's name. Thank you so much for this challenge. I hope my friend likes it. Remember the days that my kids were out of school a couple of weeks ago due to the wicked ice storm? Well, they kinda got tired of the video games and wanted to learn how to sew. Dallas who is 11 wanted to make a cat quilt for a friend of mine on SCS because she just adores her cat Koby. He had already made our cat one.
This quilt is made from Moda cat print fabrics. The blue and the star prints are misc fabrics. He really enjoyed sewing this. Thanks for viewing his quilt.

Dallas had to sew all the squares individually. But I just helped get the points to match. He also did the borders. He even quilted the top, batting, and the bottom together. WOW!

This quilt is called "Sunshine and Shadows". The pattern starts at the top left hand corner.

Ok, I think I figured it out. I am not a day stamper obviously. My mojo starts flowing about 2pm. Trust me, I looked for things around the house like the cans, magazines, and etc. It wasn't until I walked by my laundry room and saw a pair of my son's jeans that had big holes in them. Sometimes, I think I try to hard.

Here is my story:

The challenge today for Ways To Use It, was we were suppose to use anything that is frugal and not having to buy things to make our card. Well, after seeing my son's jeans, I started to cut out the pockets. I had to sew more inside twice around in order for it to fit on this card. Cut to size and then sew on the lines. Sponged with brown ink. I changed threads to brown too. I then used the lace border punch and used the cb mini button emboss folder on it. I attached it to the top of the jeans with Tombo Mono glue and also stitched the seam. I added rhinestone brad flowers to the edges using the piercing tool. I stamped the sentiment from Pocket Fun, trimmed to size, and sponged around the edges with pink ink. Attached. I stamped the girls onto cream c/s because I wanted them to match the lace on the pocket with black ink. I colored them using prismacolor pencils. I cut them out with scissors and used my kraft knife for the tiny areas. I didn't want alot of cream showing. I added chalk to their cheeks. I used 2-way glue for the hair tie, bracelet, heart, flower, and added sprinkles of glitter to them. They are held on with foam tape. I ran the pink b/g c/s using the cb paisley emboss folder, added rhinestones to the corners, and attached to the base of the card. I really had fun making this card once I got started. The card actually didn't take me long at all, but the idea did. Thank you for the fun challenge. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!
