Whew! This quilt took a bit of time...but I was glad that I was able to do something for a friend of mine. A friend had gotten these tshirts from her friend back in April and asked me if I would make something out of them. Her friend son is pictured on the 2nd block that says Angels. He passed away from cancer at the age of 5 years, sad...I said sure. It took me awhile to get it going with all other things that was happening in my life, but I got it done the week on his birthday. I used flannel material that has the spaceships on it and cottons for the rest. I appliqued a moon that I found off a space shirt at the thrift store and thought it would look good on this quilt. I also appliqued several stars on the quilt too. My husband had purchased the fabric paper in the wrong style but this worked out just as well. Next time, I will have to buy and go get what I need at the fabric store. Silly men. This was time consuming, but worth it. I quilted around some of the images on the shirts to where they stood out. I also made a tote bag using a photo of his, and also a small wall hanging with the 4 other t-shirts that were left over. She loved everything about what I did with her son's tshirts and to this day, she keeps saying thank you!
