TLC199 Nothing Fancy
Well, I didn't have the tag punches that was suppose to be used in the challenge for the Tag Punch Starburst. I did something similar called Survival. I used my mini tag die cuts from Sizzix. It worked out ok, even though the points seem a little off for me. As long as I got the chance to play and figure out the concept, I am happy with my outcome. I used the teal mulberry paper underneath the teal c/s. After I put it together the both pieces I added the stickles all around the edges including the center around the snowflake. I added the CB snowflake folder to the background and added criss cross ribbon for the middle. This is just to show you that I did try the challenge. TFL! Have a great night!
Once the bigger tag was punched out, I had to trim the sides on ALL of them with scissors. It was tedious, but it was ok.
SC210 FS100 WT200 Movie Stars
Whew! Still got a slight headache going on, but seemed to get this challenge done...took me longer because I did a lot of resting today. Am I the only one that suffers from Migraines? I get them twice a month, anyhow...here is my story. The Featured Stamper today was JulieHRR.
The base of the card is kraft, so I am working with the brown c/s. I started with DCWV dp and used the cb swiss dots folder. Then I mounted it to the brown c/s. I used a zig zag stitch with my sewing machine on both dp's. I sponged all the edges using brushed corduroy ink. Now the tricky part: I had to make my own film strip using the punch that is in the picture (I'm sorry I don't have the name of it) and using it on brown c/s for each film strip. Trimmed as needed. I hand cut out the squares using a kraft knife. I took 2 baseball pictures of my kids and cut to size. I stamped the same boy from a studio g stamp onto vanilla c/s and colored the image using Prismacolor pencils. I used the versamark pen, clear emboss powder, and heat tool on them as well for both. I secured the stamped image/pictures with 2-way glue. I stamped 5 stars from the Teeny Tinies set with old olive ink onto vanilla c/s. I used the versamark ink, clear emboss powder, and heat tool here too. Cut out. I didn't know where to put the stars, so I just did it like this...I hope they look ok. They are held on with pop dots. The sentiment Movie Stars is computer generated and trimmed. I added eyelets and sponged the edges as well. Both are held on with pop dot squares. This was really a fun challenge once I got going. This will go in my scrapbook for the kids when I get to them. It really didn't take me all day to do this...just in between naps. I hope you like it. Thanks Roxy for the great challenge! Have a great night!
I just uploaded this card late last night (like into the wee hours of the morning) works perfect for the Ways to Use It Challenge), we were to add Stars of any kind to our card, so I decided to add this for a triple challenge.
TLC202 Our Flag
Can you say ADDICTED? It seems as though here lately I have been addicted to the daily challenges on SCS. They are fun. I am learning a lot of new things, ideas, and most of all, meeting new friends. This was really a fun challenge today. We had to use the Tacky Tape with glitter. I think I got carried away with the glitter though. Our family is very patriotic and my house is decorated in Americana. so I thought I would make a flag. I made the card base a 5x7 because the standard size didn't really fit too well. I started out by cutting the white c/s to size and measured the lines 1/4 inch apart making up the rows of the real flag. I then scored them using the scor-pal lightly. I put the tape on each individual line for the red and white rows. I used my tacky sheet for the blue square. Once covered with tape, I started taking the red off...added glitter, and so on. I took the tape off the blue square and added more glitter. I used my star punch with the sheet of tape also, but it appears to be more silver. But it was white before I took the backing off. I decided that I was going to frame this, so I used the CB Script folder on some old glory dp and sponged the edges with distress ink. The flag is held on with tacky tape as well. Sorry, I didn't use any stamps. But I hope you like my card anyways. God Bless!
FS100 Birthday Quilt
Whew! I always look forward to Sundays challenges because I love doing them. It helps me with their ideas to create a new card using their permission to case. We were to make a card using the Featured Stamper known as JulieHHR. I knew which card I wanted to case when I saw it. I chose to case Julie's quilt card as that I am a quilter. I made this for my mom's birthday in March. My mom loves to see us sew and I thought this would be perfect for her. This card lays flat, as it will be mailed for my mom for her birthday in March. She loves our (my twin sister who is stamp300) quilts and I thought she would like a card this time.
Things I changed:
button (I colored it brown using a marker), distressing, sewing, cuttlebug, piercing tool
I accidently used the CB swiss dots folder upside down but I think I kinda like it better this way because the sentiment lays better. What do you think?
CC200 Finding Nemo
Did you notice the shape of this card? That's because I like to be different when it comes to creating. I like coming up with different types of cards because sometimes the regular size gets boring after a while. I finally completed this color challenge after a long day with a horrible headache. Ended up sleeping all day. I hate that when it happens like that. Darn! Anyways, we were to use the colors pumpkin pie, garden green, and brilliant blue. When I thought of these colors, many ideas came to mind...but decided to do fish. I started out making a fish bowl template and cutting it out with scissors placing the top of the bowl on the fold. I cut an extra piece for the top so I am working with this piece and not right on the actual piece...make sense! I used the cb swirls folder and sponged with the blue ink. I then took the versamark ink, clear emboss powder, and heat tool to set. Sponged with more blue ink afterwards. I stamped the sand from the Fish Frolics set several times on the bottom of the fish bowl. I punched out several leafs with the green c/s using MS leaf punch and secured them on using spray adhesive carefully. Sponged with green ink also. I didn't have any tiny shells, so I used stickers. I stamped the fish from Fishy Friends onto black bazzill c/s (works great for the bleach technique) with versamark ink, embossed with black powder, and heat tool. I took my bleach pen, dipped it into the bleach, and onto to the fish until it started to fade the color out. Let dry for a few seconds. I then used the orange marker to fill in the fish. I used the white gel pen for the stripes. The fish is held on with pop dots for a dimensional look. I also added one googlie eye for his eye. I added pearls with glue dots. For the top of the bowl, I used my snow writer pen and with my finger I speared it. I added ribbon to finish. This was fun to do. Thanks for the challenge! Have a great night!
CC197 SC48 You Light Up My LIfe
This card took me longer than what I anticipated. I must of tried 3 different ways to do the lighthouse. Finally decided on the bleach technique. I just love doing things with the bleach on cards. I stamped the lighthouse with Versamark ink onto the Navy blue c/s and then embossed it using Cobalt embossing powder. I took my waterbrush pen that I use for bleach and dipped it right into the bleach several times then back on the image. I left the lighthouse the bleach look. As the c/s was turning to the bleach color, I started coloring with the Prismacolor pencils. The light is just bleach by using the brush pen. I distressed and sponged all the edges of the layered c/s with my tool and Brushed Corduroy ink. I used the CM oval cutting system to cut the image out twice. The sentiment is from the SU Mini Mates set and is punched out by using the small oval punch. It is also distressed and inked on the edges. I mounted the lighthouse onto MME DP with 3D dimensions. I used the piercing tool all around the layers of c/s too. I used the corner punch, pop dots, and also pierced the corners. I really didn't know what else to put in the corners. To finish the card I used MS fence border punch and I added string to tie a slip knot. The fence is on the card using pop dots as well. I think its amazing that the people come up with these color challenges because I don't think I would of ever put these together. It was fun to do though. Thanks for the challenge and thanks for looking.
Note: I find that Bazzill c/s works better with the bleach technique
LSC198 David's Dog Tags
Ohh, I just love creating with recyclable things. We were to use things that we recycled in our cards for the Going Green Challenge...Limited Supplies. I had saved a pie pan from Thanksgiving because I just don't throw anything away nowadays knowing that I might be able to use it later. My husband thinks I'm silly. When I do these challenges, I try to stay within the realistic things...it's just me. I made this card for my husband's scrapbook, one day I'll get to it at least before he retires in 2013...I made the tags from the pie tin using the Sizzix tag die cuts. I traced around the bottom to cut out to be a little more rounder so it would match with the top part. I used the Stylus to engrave his name and the year 1980 when he joined the Marines. I used the Cropodile to set the eyelets. I added silver cording as the chain. I then mounted the tags onto vanilla c/s which was used with the CB Mesh folder. I trimmed the Marine DP from Karen Fosters Designer paper and mounted. I also sponged with distress ink for a rough look. I added brads to finish. I know he'll like this, but will be amazed on what I made it out of. Thanks for your comments. Have a wonderful night!
The tin is clean on the "1980", its the glare from the light. I must of taken about 8 pictures for this one. Sorry.
FS97 Our Hero Marine
I'm soooo late with this challenge, but I think my mind and body told me I needed sleep last night. I went to bed about 10, not normal for me. My husband says I'm like the energizer bunny. Plus, I had volunteered at our church today doing Christmas ornaments. I knew when I saw Cards of America I wanted to case her Army card. I had a bit of trouble with it because the Marines is longer on the paper verses the Army, so I cut my paper a little shorter. I think it worked ok. I used the star dp by Karen Foster as the background. I sponged, distressed the edges with Brushed Corduroy ink, and used the piercing tool along the edges. I used cranberry for the bottom layer and did the same technique. I stamped the MARINE onto vanilla c/s with the brushed corduroy ink. I colored the marine using the prismacolor pencils, odorless mineral spirts, and blending stumps. Cut out. I mounted him onto sage green c/s after I had pierced the holes. I added 2 star brads to the corner. Then layered onto star dp and navy c/s. The Marine dp is layered on with pop dots and also pierced with tiny holes. I didn't have any ribbon the color of cranberry so I made my own by coloring white Offray ribbon with orange and red markers to get the cranberry color. I stamped the words "our hero" onto a CB tag and inserted the ribbon. My husband wants to frame this. He likes it too. I wish this wouldn't of taken me so long to do, but our church needed me today. Thanks for looking and thanks for the inspiration along with the challenge. Have a great night!
IC158 My Fishy Friend
I always try to get the challenges before I head to bed. You could pick one of any three sites to get your inspiration. I picked this image from the Flicker gallery, just to be different. I started out by sponging blue ink onto white c/s and went back over with the ink a little darker in some areas. I used the CB circle rings die cut for the bubbles. I stamped the fish using versamark ink onto black bazzill c/s. I think it works great for bleaching. I used black embossing powder with the heat tool. I have 2 watercolor pens (one is for bleach, and the other is just water). I used the watercolor pen that I use for bleaching by dipping it into the bleach, then went in between the openings of the fishes skin. By this time, it was turning light yellow. I took the Harvest Orange Mark It pen and went back over the image that was turning yellow. I like the results. I cut the fish out. I added 2 white pearls for the eyes but colored them using a blue marker. The fish is held on with pop dots for dimensions. The sentiment is from Inkadinkao clear stamps. I finished the card by adding jute and sponging the sides of the card. Thanks for the inspiration challenges. Thank you for looking and have a great Saturday!
FS99 Bleached Butterfly
Whew! I'm finally back to playing with these challenges. I hope everyone had a nice holiday. I guess you could say I took a break. I was so busy and trying to keep up with the challenges was a challenge for me. Here is a simple card I picked for todays Featured Stamper Barbara by the screen name Stampfilled Dreams. Have a wonderful night!

I used the oval scallop punch (provided by my penpal Carol).
I added white dots with the galaxy pen.
I stamped the butterfly with versamark ink, embossed it black powder, used my bleached pen, then colored the inside of it with my cranberry marker.
WT196 Forever Friends
Well, I still have the pencil lead in my foot. It is wrapped with a yellow onion hoping it will fall out tomorrow. It is sure painful. Anyhow, while I was out shopping today, I kept thinking about how I was going to do the Half Baked Challenge. I decided it was going to look like a Best Friends pendant necklace only on a card. I started out by using the versamark on the vellum paper and stamped the heart. I added silver emboss power with the heat gun. I did the same thing for the sentiment of "Forever Friends". I cut the heart in 2 pieces down the middle. I then mounted it onto Sage Shadow c/s. If I didn't have it mounted to it, then you wouldn't of been able to see the sentiment as good. I then mounted it to vanilla c/s leaving about 1/4 inch. I made a scallop edge of the heart with my decorative scissors. The heart is mounted with 3D dimensions for a flattering effect onto glitter dp from MME. I used the heart decorative corner punch on the MME DP and also the ticket corner punch. It is mounted onto vanilla c/s. I sponged the vanilla c/s with silver ink and added silver brads. I added the metallic ribbon to finish it. This will go to one of my friends and hope they will like it. I enjoyed this and I thought this stamp worked great for this challenge. Thank you for your comments and thanks for looking. Have a great night.
I'm sorry that I'm not sure of the color of the base of the card. Can you help me out? Looks almost like a dark teal.
Please note that the card is silver and not gold. It appears that way due to the lighting. Sorry.
FS95 Latest Moos
This is my first try at doing a Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS. www.splitcoaststampers.com, the Featured Stamper Flowergal36. The FS stamper picked for this week was Flowergal36. We were to change 3 things from a card we case from one of her cards. I cased her Cow card. It's towards the older posts when she first starting stamping. I really had fun doing it and will probably play again. I think it helps you create your own style casing someone elses cards. Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!
I changed it to a Criss Cross card made from Beate's tutorial on SCS.
I handmade the template for the spots and colored.
I added spots to the ribbon with a sharpie.
I used Diamond Glaze and liquid applique for the cow.
Stamps: SU On the Farm, Inkadinkado (sentiment)
Cardstock: black bazzil, Georgia Pacific (white), SU Pretty in Pink
Ink: Versadfine Onyx black
Supplies: scor-pal, Offray ribbon, black sharpie, pencil, scissors, liquid applique, diamond glaze, sponge
